Print Success Rate System

I think MakerWorld would really benefit from a community-based “print success rate” feature.

Here’s the idea:

When someone downloads and prints a model, once the print is finished (or fails), MakerWorld could ask:

:white_check_mark: Successful Print

:cross_mark: Failed Print

The user would simply click one of the two buttons.

Then, on the model page, everyone could see:

the percentage of successful prints,

the percentage of failed prints,

and maybe even the total number of print attempts.

Example:

87% successful prints

13% failed prints

based on 2,400 print attempts

This could help users:

quickly identify reliable models,

avoid badly optimized prints,

compare profiles/settings,

and feel more confident before starting a long print.

It would also encourage creators to:

improve supports,

optimize orientations,

test their files more carefully,

and provide better print settings.

Possible extra features:

users could optionally select the reason for failure:

adhesion issue,

support failure,

filament problem,

wrong settings,

hardware issue, etc.

separate success rates depending on printer model or filament type.

badges for creators with consistently high print success rates.

I think this would make MakerWorld much more useful and transparent for the whole community. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

People are not going to admit to their own mistakes and just blame the file they downloaded. It is already happening. Someone has a print fail, gives a bad review, but will not engage with the creator when asked questions to help solve the issue.

Most people just want to use the Handy app to start a print and not do anything to make sure their printer, filament, etc is correct for the print.

There are far too many factors that can lead to print failure that have a absolutely nothing to do with the model and print profile.

Filament drying and washing a build plate are entirely too hard for some folks.

I can see this really harming less commonly printed models, too. If the first attempted print fails, what, it shows a 0% success rate? That’s a kiss of death to that model ever being successful.

Non car il serait affiché le pourcentage par rapport au nombre d’impression testés et le créateur pourrai aussi essayer d’aider ceux qui n’ont pas réussi à imprimer ( même si certains ne voudront pas avouer leurs erreurs)

Honestly I don’t look at the ratings, after printing enough models that were not what the cover image showed I started digging through the reviews to make a decision then after a while I realized many of the reviews and even the photos in the reviews were fake, then I left a 4 star review for a model that had parts that didn’t fit and it was taken down because according to the cloud or what ever it is ,my print was successful. So I dont see how the ratings matter much to me.
