Print Time

I’m pulling my hair out a bit here! Since a software update last week prints that took maybe 12hrs are now looking like 3 days once I’ve sliced them. What am I doing wrong? Nothing else has changed as far as I’m aware. Bambu support has been no help at all. Thanks.

H2S Printer and printing PLA Matte.

You have given very little information regarding this issue. Perhaps you can upload the .3mf file you are having issues with so others can see if they have similar time discrepancies?

Could perhaps a time-lapse mode be turned on that is causing the additional time each layer?

Scribe Jig.3mf (55.5 KB)

Does this work? Just importing this file into the slicer shows 21hrs print time. For a parts that’s 50mm tall.

Firstly, your 3MF doesn’t appear to be from Bambu Studio.

Secondly, I am getting less than 3 hours.

Can you show what you are getting, like I have?

I used all defaults, as your 3MF file didn’t contain any setting information, since it is not reported as being from Bambu Studio.

I cannot see where you had 12 hours for the print, nor where 3 days come from.

You need to share much more information in order for us to help you.

Thanks for the reply. I crate the 3MF directly from Fusion 360 which then automatically opens the slicer. It doesn’t seem to make a difference if I use a step file. The 3 day print was for a taller version of this part.

And with the printer connected -

Save the Bambu Studio file as a 3MF and share that, it will include any settings you have changed.

I open Bambu Studio shows 3h41m to print

Hopefully this works -

I am getting less than 12 hours with that one, even on P & X series printers.

Export the file from Fusion and import it into a new Bambu Studio project.

Something is messing with the process.

Uh, whatever process you are using is emitting speed rates from 2013

Whatever is creating that process named “Default process” (which btw is not a default from any slicer) is really really bad. Fix that and you’ll likely fix your workflow. Else, use one of bambu studios process presets.

That’s what I have been doing prior to exporting directly from Fusion. 3MF or STEP file - makes no real difference. As I mentioned initially this only started happening after the last software update last week. I just don’t know what to do at this point. I have a printer that I effectively can’t use.

Use a process profile from bambu studio. It will be named “0.20 Standard [your printername]” Abandon whatever fusion is setting up for you, it is bad, wrong, and slow. 500 acceleration! I don’t think ive ever seen such a low number used.

The store page says your printer is rated for 20k accel and 1000 printspeed… just as a point of reference. Stop telling it to go so slow and it will stop going so slow

It isn’t the printer.

You said this happened since a software update.

I am using an older version, not the current one, download an earlier copy.

From here:

I’m sorry - I’m new to printing. I don’t know how to do that. Do I need to remove the existing program first?

Thanks. I’m new to printing and I don’t know what any of this means! I had a printer that worked and now I don’t. I’ve no clue how to mess with any settings. I thought Bambu were supposed to be plug and play but perhaps not!

I dont use fusion’s export directly to slicer, so the following is a guess:

Fusion likely gave the slicer program a profile called literally the string “Default profile.” This name is insidious, it is not a default in any way shape or form for bambu studio. I dont know if this is being populated with safe defaults or something, but it is basically Ender 3 speeds.

When you’re in the slicer, use this control to change to a default profile actually made for your printer.

It’s likely to be named “0.20mm standard @H2S” or something.

Scroll down to an older version, download the one for Mac or Windows, based on if you use Mac or Windows and install it.

To install an older version of Bambu Studio, you must download it from the Bambu Studio GitHub releases page. Before installing, you can either uninstall the current version or change the installation folder name to a different location to avoid overwriting your existing installation, which allows you to have multiple versions on your computer at once.

OK. Progress of sorts. Older version now has sensible print times. But I now get this warning and I’m stuck again!

Do you have a hardened nozzle set and no hardened nozzle in the printer?

Or the other way around with a stainless steal one?

Did you or do you have any custom settings for the nozzle that need to be removed? Things like temperature being too high.

Look at the settings and confirm things.

Thanks! Finally starting a print! If I changed the flow to standard this warning went away. I’ll investigate more once I have some prints done. Thanks for all your help. In conclusion, reverting to the previous version of the slicer the super long print times went away. Does anyone know what that would happen? Surely it can’t just be me?
