TLDR; jpvalery illegally remixed my model, attributed a different model, and Martin Horek with printables is not performing the proper investigation, refuses to take the illegal remix model down, and accused me of remixing a model to create mine. Links posted.
So I have this model, Aztec-Mayan Calendar -- The Sun Stone by Qjeezy - MakerWorld, uploaded to maker world exclusively. I spent weeks creating the model based off of a 3D scan that I performed. The actually scanning part only took an hour or so but the time spent fixing, sculpting, and tweaking details in nomad sculpt was the bulk of the work. I spent quite a bit of time on it and Iâm proud of it.
So there I am looking around printables and what do ya know, I find my model posted. On top of that, my model is licensed under a standard digital file license, so remixing is not allowed. So I did what everyone would do, I report it to have it removed. Well, that was unsuccessful. I did this 3 more times and nothing ever came of it. Not to mention that simply scaling down a model does not constitute a legitimate remix.
Thatâs when I decided to email prusa/printables directly. I explained the situation thoroughly and even provided links to my model, the illegal remix model, and the model they claim to have remixed. I explained that the illegal remix is not allowed under my license and that it is also attributing the wrong model, so I would like it to be removed. I received an email back from Martin Horak with printables and he tells me âthe model in question does not violate any licensing agreements or our platform rulesâ. Okay, so all he did was look at the illegal remix upload, go to the attributed model and look at the license. Totally ignored the fact that I said the attributed model was not the model they actually used.
So I wrote back explaining that I believe he is mistaken and that the model they claim to have remixed is not the one they used and that they actually used my model. I then asked him to open all 3 models in a slicer so he can see them side by side, as I have done already, and it would become immediately obvious that my statements are true. There are many details that prove the models are different. He replied back again stating that the original model they remixed is based from scan the world and included a link to that model. Then included another link to the model the illegal remix attributed. I know which model they attributed Martin, it is not the one they uploaded sir! Hereâs where they left a sour taste in my mouth, Martin then accused me of also remixing the same model to create my model! No dude, I spent a lot of time on my model to make it what it is. It is in no way, shape, or form even close to the same as the other one nor was any part of the other one used at all to create mine.
He then went on to cite publication dates and stated that my model was posted later than the scan the world model by a few days, which is true. Is he basing the fact that he thinks the illegal remix is not my model on publication dates?
I just sent the latest email back, again asking him to open all 3 models in a slicer so he can see them side by side. It really is the easiest and quickest way to see in fact that I am telling the truth.
Anyway, Martin with printables doesnât seem to be investigating this properly and is not abiding by CC licensing. He is basing his judgement on the illegal remix upload without doing any type of actual research. I have posted my model above and here are the other 2. The first one is the illegal âremixâ and the second is the model they claim to have remixed.

The creator, jpvalery, has already changed which model they credited at least once. It used to be a model from thingiverse and now itâs a model from makerworld. They also have a print profile on my model, which I donât see as a problem because itâs in the correct location and provides a print profile for the a1 mini. Itâs just the âremixâ upload that printables refuses to remove because they canât do the proper investigation thatâs leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
Jpvalery has also uploaded the same 50% scale print profile to the model on makerworld from scan the world that I linked, but I have already had that one successfully removed.
Jpvalery, if youâre on here dude, please remove the printables listing and keep your 50% scale modification profile of my model on my model listing only. I donât care about the points, you can keep those. This is my work that I spent a lot of time on and chose to keep exclusively on makerworld.
