Printer extrudes extra filament before moving to change colour

P2S with AMS. Excellent output with most print jobs.

I am trying to print a label tag that has text in a different colour as a modifier flush with the surface. I am printing the text face down on smooth plate, so black text prints first then the remainder of the orange label tag over and around the text. I do not want to print it text facing up. The text is included as a modifier and it prints fine onto the plate, so there is no issue with face down.

After the black text has printed on the plate the head stops in place above it and extrudes an extra blob of black filament onto the last position. Then it moves off to the tower before the next filament colour loads. It is like it is doing an intentional purge onto the job. It also does this on the tower.

I can see the AMS feed more filament when this happens, the spool ticks over about three times, so it is intentionally extruding more filament in place and it is not oozing or lack of retraction.

Why is this happening and what can I do to make the head move away from the completed text without extruding an extra blob?

Thanks for any assistance.

Can you save your 3mf file after slicing, export it, and post it here?

Solved it.

The printer was sending a purge before each filament change. Maybe something to do with Flow Dynamics Calibration, maybe a standard P2S feature. The problem was that it was doing this over the top of the last layer because the nozzle was raised above the last print position.

I added Gcode in the Change Filament Gcode section of the machine code to move the nozzle over the chute before filament change.

; — Custom move to chute before changing filament —
G150.3 ; Move nozzle to trash chute location

It still purges before doing the filament change, but now the nozzle moves to the chute instead of hovering above the layer and I am not worried about tracking down and eliminating the small amount of purge.
