I have an issue printing a circular V in a round PETG Solid. The V has 45 degree side walls and is about 4mm deep., I have stringing across the opening, like the nozzle takes a short cut across the V instead of following the circular shape. The rest of the print is fine.
The nozzle is following the correct path but the filament isn’t adhering along the path so it is dragged in a straight line until such time that the current extruded plastic adheres.
Check to make sure that the surface is actually touching the build plate in the slicer. A brim might be needed if the contact surface isn’t enough.
If the stringing is higher up in the layers you may have to decrease the layer height as the step over at the current height is too larger.
The stringing is on the higher layers, maybe starting a millimeter off the build plate. The angle is a 45° angle, so I thought overhanging issues would not come in to play.
There are three settings you can experiment with that I’ve used in situations like this. Note, these are setting in Orca and Bambu Studio may not have every variation.
The first setting you probably already know, that is wall sequence. If you have it set to the default of inner/outer, try changing it to outer/inner. Also, you may want to increase the temp to see if that will allow for the strands to stick better.
The second is experiment with avoid crossing walls.
What I am seeing here can be explain by the fact that the nozzle is moving too quickly to get around the circle and therefore you’re not getting the adhesion you need.
And the last is slow the speed down for wall creation. This will allow for the filament to set up better on each pass. You could also try to increase this with an increase in filament temp to get the filament to have more “stickiness” during each pass.
Overhangs on an interior arcs are the hardest to print. If you are printing at a .2 layer height, try used the variable layer height feature to decrease that section of the print to say .12
