P1S - raising the bed is fine, lowering the bad causes this harsh, rattling sound, and I can’t identify the source. Did a quick maintenance pass after the problem started, no improvement.
Any ideas?

To me it sounds like a resonance thing caused by the stepper motor.
Do you have it with different speeds also? Like at the end of a print when the bed lowers.
(heh, waiting for a print to finish so I can find out ![]()
Take a look under the printer. The belt and pulley system are open underneath the printer and something can easily be jamming up against a pulley.
I’m thinking maybe his bed is tilted because one of the Z axis pulleys slipped. Probably not visible but might be enough to cause binding. It’s a chore to reset but it’s documented on the wiki.
Can’t remember, are the Z nuts anti-backlash?
Any chance you printed something really tall, and the next print before it started made a horrible noise?
They are not. Anti backlash isn’t needed as the screw is always loaded in the same direction.
