I finally caved and bought an AMS.
Before, I had a P2S, no AMS and a P1S, no AMS. When I would open Studio, I would choose which printer I wanted to use. Now that I have the AMS up and running. I no longer get that option. Opening Studio just shows a generic P2S instead of my Printer A and Printer B. Grok says that’s just the way it is. Are you guys losing respect for AI? It seems like it’s wrong more than it’s right. Or… is this normal behavior after attaching the AMS? Just doesn’t seem right to me. A lot more clicking going on. This used to show my two printers with their unique names.
Any help will be appreciated.

In the Device tab when you click on the current printer does the drop down show both of your printers? If it doesn’t check to make sure you are logged into the correct account with these printers attached to it.
If it does show both printers, go back to the Prepare tab and click the printer icon. There will be a drop down that should show both the P1S and P2S options. If it doesn’t you need to click the little gear icon across from “Printer” and add which ever printer isn’t there.
When I click the printer dropdown, I only get these two choices. This is the dropdown menu where I used to be able to choose between printer A and printer B. In the first option, “–Select/Remove printers– “ it just takes me to the page full of photos of all the various printers. And, of course, P2S is already selected there. If I use the second option “–Create printer–” I get a screen that shows non- BBL printers. Thanks for you response.
Yeah the printer selection on the Slicer will be just “P2S, P1S, etc. I have 4 printers and two are the same. I have to select P1S then go to device tab and select the P1S I want to use. Multi-Device can make the switch quicker sometimes.
So in short, you’ll just get the generic pic and name, select what you want under device unless it was already selected.
Bummer. I don’t like that because it wasn’t that way one week ago. Opening in Studio at the Prepare tab would always give me the drop down with both printers to choose from. When I go to Devices to choose the printer and then go back to Prepare, the model is already sliced. It never did that before either. I guess I can reslice if I don’t like the settings.
I must have misunderstood. What you’re describing happens now. Drop down on prepare lists all my printers. The biggest issue is that I have to select the P1S I want in devices to get the ams for it. Or go to devices if I want to use a printer that’s not selected in devices. I don’t think I’m describing it as well as I should.
No, I was wrong. You are right. I was having a senior moment. I must have hallucinated the bit about the dropdown at Prepare. And even if it did used to be that way, it doesn’t matter anyhow because I just now realized I can slice first, then go to Device, choose print, and then get the option to change printers. My bad. Thanks to all.

This is normal behavior after adding an AMS.
Once AMS is connected, Bambu Studio often treats the printer + AMS as a combined device profile and defaults to the last active printer instead of showing the startup selection screen like before. It doesn’t remove your other printer it just changes how the device list is displayed.
A few quick things you can check:

Open Device List inside Studio and confirm both printers are still linked to your account.

Make sure both machines are powered on and online.

Log out and back into Bambu Studio to refresh device sync.

Check if it’s set to auto-select the last used printer.
You should still be able to switch printers from the device dropdown it’s just one extra step compared to the old startup screen.
After adjusting everything, it’s a good idea to run a quick test print from each machine to confirm profiles and AMS settings are behaving correctly. You can use a simple printer test page.
That will help confirm both printers are responding properly after the AMS setup.
Yep, you’re exactly right. When I was running my P2S and P1S, with no AMS, the option to choose printers appeared in the Prepare tab. But the AMS changed that. Thanks for your response.
