I started printing the master sword and everything has been printing fine and decent. But, using the PLA blue has given me the most headaches. I printed the these hilt parts 3 times. I attached the pictures. The one attached to the sword is the first print, then the 2nd is the one missing one of the spikes and the 3rd I decided to cut it up to try to print it better. Third try was successful but, just have to sand more and glue it up.
The first try I tried to use hollow support which felt, 2nd time I used slim and it still happened and 3rd I used auto but, the support area was smaller after being cut up.
my question is anything I should check or its blue has this much problems? I dried the filament for a few days before using it. The other filaments don’t give me this much issues. Or is it more the stl design itself? I did calibration after adding the blue PLA. Also any blue yall know close to this one in paint? I got tons of minifigure paint from citadel, fanatic, vallejo and 2 thin coats.
I used the stronger support and using the support PLA/PETG for the third print. Using the tree strong support was able to do it. But, that was me trying different things as last resort and the support area became smaller once I cut it.
The previous iterations of that model were so much more printable! flat on the plate parts and upside down to how it is oriented now… but i guess it didnt have lights and speakers and stuff…

Designer recommended 35degree overhang angle to be supported, maybe that helps add more structure, but the underside of that curve is gonna be not too friendly to print.
Have you fiddled with the Supports painting tool any? That tool is pretty useful and I use it to look through the build plate because it will put a sort of checkerboard pattern at the model/support interface and you can make that interface area larger or smaller. Really good for modeling the support structure without having to spend possibly hours waiting on the model to get to that layer.
I did when I printed the 3rd cute and cut the pieces apart. figure sometimes the auto support doesn’t always add it. I’ll try to spend more time in it.
One of the biggest benefits for me is using it as a modeling tool. I can model the model in a minute or so. Probably well over 95% of the time I go with what Studio gives me but sometimes the more complex support problems I will check in advance.
