I just bought a new machine Jan 1st and haven’t had any problems until two days ago. I tried to print this blob fish, and the fins kept rolling. I washed the plate with dish soap, and added supports, but it still wasn’t printing right.
I just don’t know why all of the sudden it’s not printing like it was. I also tried to adjust the first layer speed, using different filaments, cleaning the extruder off, and running calibration.
I noticed that your printer is positioned directly in front of the window, which is not the cause of your problem, but could potentially worsen it. Depending on the window or to be precise its frame, cold may be entering and disrupting the printing process.
Similarly, in summer, the sun may shine directly on the printer. This can negatively affect PLA and, in the worst case, cause the printer to overheat. I see you’ve already installed sun protection, which is great.
Please be mindful of this. Also, make sure that nobody opens the window while printing. Breeze can significantly worsen such issues.
I’m doubling down with the cold theory. Central time zone… are you having unusually cold weather? The larger the temperature difference, the more the plastic will shrink after being laid down. I could definitely see a layer of cold air from the window being a large contributing factor, as 'Sharky suggests.
It seems quite a number of people on the forums have adhesion problems “all of a sudden” (at least 3 posts just today) and I’ve also experienced it to a certain degree since the extreme cold weather hit a couple weeks ago (upstate NY). Even with an enclosed printer I’ve taken to monitoring the venting system so it doesn’t pull in too much cold air. An unenclosed printer would be particularly vulnerable.
Maybe try with a box (or similar) over the printer, or moving it to a warmer place?
Same here, two days ago failed print, now horrible first layer, i have been printing for almost 16 months, perfectly never an issue, only swapped one hotend. And now she’s dead to me. I cant revive her, I’ve tried it all. Now i will start replacing stuff, going down the rabbit hole. Seems fishy though just saying firmware updates and all. That scratch is from the hotend moving across the print quickly scraping it.
I’m going to move it away from the window. Also how can I go back the the previous firmware- I’ll try anything at this point and hopefully moving to a warmer spot and reverting back to the original I was running might work

Make sure there is no debris or small filament fragments stuck on the magnetic bed or underneath the build plate.
I have been 3D printing since 2011 and still overlooked this once, which ended up ruining an entire print job.. and it look like extrusion issues similar to your photos..
Also in the central time zone. I do notice some printing issues when the temps drop. (70 year old house doesn’t always maintain temps). I
I have 2 H2D’s one at my house and one at my business. I have also had issue after a firmware update. I try to not do them at the same time. If I have a failed print I can still test it on the other firmware. Twice I have had to downgrade the firmware because of printing issues.
When I get glitches I will clean my bed with alcohol and then apply a think coat of Nano Polymer Adhesive. That seems to help hold down the first layer and fix most issues.
There is NOTHING more frustrating than going from flawless to printing junk and having to waste time trouble shooting.
I also agree with the environment temp suggestion.
These machines use thermal energy as a scalpel, if you put it next to something that steals all its heat, you’ll end up with bizarre artifacts. You might be able to alleviate it a little bit by “heat soaking” the bed - aka 15mins prior to printing,turn on the heatbed to operating temp, and let it sit and equalize - but I’d try a different household location.
I’d also clean the plate again - I know you said you did - but I’d still do it again if it were my prints. Hot water. Neutral dish soap. Clean/unsoiled brush. Optional spritz + wipe of isopropyl after dry

Those two screws, loosen, wiggle wires, tighten. it worked. Next layer was spectacular! Its the Eddie current sensor wires, could be the wires just needed to be reseated. Watch the video he shows you. I hope im in the right place! Its a festvous miracle!
So since I’ve only had this (I guess I bought it on the 23rd) I took it back to where I bought it and exchanged it for a new one. Turns out I bought a refurb machine and I’m hoping that was the problem. I’m setting up the new one now– away from the window!
Your opossums look like what started happening to me today. I’ve had 2 A1 printers running for 8 hours today and not one successful print. Been troubleshooting everything I can find.
