Printing suddenly stopped (Firmware 1.10)

After 10+ hours (in 16h print) the printing stopped suddenly with a message “Printing Stopped”. No fans running, the chamber light turned on. No way to resume the print. Did print this model 4+ times without any issues (with older firmware). It does not seem there is any extrusion issue looking at the nozzle… The Bambu Matte PLS filament was free, not tangled. Fed from AMS.

Ran the 1.10 Firmware update right before this print. Ran full calibration after and rebooted the printer.

Never happened in the past 1,500 hours of printing.

Ideas, please?

Are you perhaps printing from a SD card?

Nope, direct from latest Bambu Studio

Got a response from Babbu Labs support to replace CF card.

So typical Bambu - “not our problem, it’s your problem” - even if I decided to continue using the printer in connected online mode and be current on their firmware and Bambu Studio releases. So not using CF card at all in the print workflow.

Really?

Hey community - is this the end of Bambu labs?

How long have you had your printer?

Did you just leave the printer in that state or have you since printed? It looks like the printer threw an error of some sort, without more info, hard to tell what is happening.

I looked up how to export logs, not sure if it’s useful but might be worth a look.

How to Export Log Files on the X1C
:small_blue_diamond: Using the Printer Touchscreen

  1. Insert a microSD card (formatted as FAT32) into the slot on the right side of the screen.
  2. On the printer, go to:
Settings → Export Log to External Storage
  3. Tap Export.
  4. (Optional) If the issue involves AI, Micro Lidar, or camera, check “Export key photos from camera.”
  5. Remove the SD card and insert it into your computer.
  6. You’ll find a or file—this is your log archive.

Thanks @Dulphy. I have shared the Logs with Bambu Support last week, but they did not bother even opening them, let alone analyzing them.

I was hoping that Bambu support has some automated workflow that would give back some useful tips, instead they throw a deflection about printing failure due to CF card… And the typical “try again”.

So the logs are exported as TAR, tried to decompress with TAR in PowerShell and WinZip both say “Error opening archive: Unrecognized archive format”.
Tried Ubuntu

  • tar: This does not look like a tar archive
  • tar: Skipping to next header
  • tar: Archive contains ‘\022f\034\313۵\224!\2465,m’ where numeric off_t value expected
  • tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Any pointers, please? (I’m thinking the SD card file is corrupted during removal, tried many times, different cards - same problem. There is no “software” way to say flush all buffers and close all files (eject)…

I just exported the logs, I can open the but inside of the zip is a .enc file of ~300MBs. I think this is locked down so we can’t read it? I don’t see any other files of value.

The logs are encrypted, I’ve not heard of any user being able to read them.

Looking back through the thread, I don’t see that you have tried Restore Factory Settings.
(Settings > General > Restore Factory Settings on the printer’s touch screen).

That has been known to correct weird problems, especially after a firmware change. It will also erase any calibration values stored on the printer, so record those first if you can.

Still no answer from Bambu Support as to why my print suddenly failed without providing a reason.

This is what I tried -

  1. Roll back to 1.09.
  2. Reset defaults
  3. Offline upgrade to 1.10
  4. Reset defaults (stay offline only)
  5. Run full calibration
  6. Test print a tower with 1250 layers

So far so good. I have now started the print again I’ll update you all on (1) how the print went and (2) once I hear from Bambu Support on what specific issue stopped my print (they have the logs) and which version of the firmware will fix the “stopped without a reason” dialog.

Thanks!
