Problem with a print

I’m pretty new to 3D printing being as I’ve only only my printer about a week. I did a print and a pin was off. Can someone tell me what’s the cause? If i had to guess it got off but don’t know if it’s from shaking or what. You can tell it’s the furthest back pin.

It looks like it was moving due to poor bed adhesion and/or insufficient brim/support.

How do I fix this? I guess I assumed the files from makerworld with the profile set for my machine would be the right settings.

those pins are going to be incredibly weak printed in that orientation. Go ahead and take those ones and try to snap it in your fingers, you’re reprinting them anyways.

lay them down on the bed, IMO, even if you have to cut parts of the head [ex. below] off to make it lay flat, or enable supports or whatever

Thank you. I’m new to this and saw where the designer said he did it at an angle to make it stronger but feel like that’s an urban legend.

Not an urban legend, printing items like these pins and screws is best to have them horizontal. Tall skinny things like these pins are difficult due to movement, cooling issues, etc.

He said he printed them up and at an angle like that for strength. Not horizontal. I didn’t edit the 3mf. Printed it like he had it.

Printing at an angle does help, but those specific models are still too thin to benefit from being printed at an angle. The concept is that each layer’s Z boundary is basically a pre-made fracture plane. If that were a glass rod, with standing-up fracture planes OR 45degree fracture planes, it would still break easily from trying to flex it. If you take that glass rod, score it lengthwise, and try to break it by flexing it, you’ll find that none of the high stress planes line perfectly with the score planes, and it will be stronger. This isnt exactly what is going on, but it is a decent mental model
