I have about 2,000 hours on my X1C, and suddenly if I start a print, the printer claims that it cannot home in the Z axis, and the print fails. If I manually home prior to each print, the printer prints just fine, so the printer actually can home in the Z axis.
I tried to remove the black gunk on the Z lead screws, and added grease from the Bambulab packet, but it did not improve the situation.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I don’t have that many hours but the last two days I have gotten that message. The first time I found a small piece of filament hiding there. The other two times I don’t know why. I just wsit a few minutes and it lets me print. Not much help but, you are not alone.

Sorry about thst, at the bottom of the z on the left side (facing it) there is a ledge at the bottom. I believe it is right under the plate so when the plate came down, the plate would hit it.
I have a Z homing problem too, but slightly different. When I calibrate, selecting Z axis only, the result is -always- success. But even immediately after calibration, if I start a print, the print does not successfully start due to z axis homing failure, driving me crazy, my expensive printer won’t print anything. I only use PETG.
i have 5 carbons,one of them at around 300 hrs does this every time.
none of the others.
they are all over 3k hrs now
to “fix” this all i do is when i put the plate back in i slide it all the way in then let
only the back inch or so suck down then i slightly pull the plate straight
back a 1ish mm evenly.
works like a charm everytime.
i dont know what the issue is ive search everywhere and clean often.
oh well it works lol.
Any update or fix for yours? I am having the same problem. My wells are clean and the bearing are flushed, my build plate is in correctly, I have no obstructions and I can even get the z axis to touch. the nozzle so I know there isn’t anything blocking it. I really can’t figure out what the issue is either. It’s driving me insane!
No one seems to know what is wrong or how to correct it.

I just manually Home after each print. It is a pain in the neck, but since Bambu seems uninterested in coming up with an answer, it is all that I have.
I am running into the same “z axix homing” and it looks like one of the bearings on the seft (smooth) rod has been pushed up (it’s not flush with the housing that encases it). When I try and push it down I can’t seem to move it. Do I need to give it a bit more force or is there some other way to get it back in place. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
