Problems on the T-connections with Silk Multi Color

I cant figure out why my silk dual color is not printing nice. I have a card holder for Seti (a boardgame). I tried already different settings i found on the forum and in the wiki. First i printed with the default settings. Thats the first picture. After that:

  • extra heat for silk+ (240 degrees)
  • outerwall speed on 40mm/s
  • retraction length 0.3mm
  • Another long dry run (10 hours on 50 degrees)
  • Seam position alligned

As you can see on the last foto, it is getting better, but its still not smoothless

I have also a foto of the backsite en a foto of the tower. Those are looking ok. The most ‘trouble’ is on the T-connection.

The only think i can think of now is that the walls of the object needs to be bigger.. Or maybe skip the idea of printing it with silk..

First print that needs a lot of attention

The tower with no problems

The back with is looking ok

The best print i’ve got so far

Guess it’s the wall Gap Infill. You can try using Arachane wall generator to make it look better.

Given you’ve asserted it’s dry (although you need to use weight, not time) I would try halving your retraction distance. Silk puffs slightly due to the elastomer, and large retractions suck in air that ends up becoming enclosed into a bubble due to that puffing.

In addition, I would paint on a seam on this object somewhere not visible. back corner or something.

Thanks, i try it wit this settings. I decreased the size of the object with 50%, so i can test it without loosing 100gr of fillament

I dont now if the Gap Infill wil do something. The wall is just 2 lines, so there is no infill. But, without trying, you don’t know it for sure. Wil be back soon!

To get the best appearance of silk I run one of these. The best appearance requires a change in speed and heat.
