Hi, I ordered an H2D and as I’m waiting to receive the printer, I’ve been reading about PETG printing on the H2D. Because Bambu’s PETG HF filaments were out of stock where I live, I considered buying 3rd party filaments and read good things about Esun PETG. But people seemed to not get good results with the Generic PETG profile, but their printers were X1C in this case, not H2D. So I have a couple of questions:
After doing proper calibration and cooling, does the Bambu PETG HF filament print well without any problems with the Bambu PETG HF profile?
When using a 3rd party PETG filament with the H2D (Esun in my case) which settings do you change of the Generic PETG profile? From what I understand, even after drying and calibration, the Generic PETG profile is too fast and the cooling settings are too high for PETG. Also I’ve read people recommending to raise the bed and nozzle temperature. So far the changes I’ve made to the Generic PETG profile are:
Max volumetric speed: 10 mm3/s
Textured PEI Plate: Initial layer: 80 °C Other layers: 80 °C
Nozzle: Other layers: 265 °C
Flow ratio: 0.96 (though it might change after calibration from what I understand)
Part cooling fan: min: 0% max: 30%
Auxiliary part cooling fan: 40%
If there are any settings you would like to suggest from your experience with the H2D and 3rd party filaments, I would love to hear it.
Does the Bambu Support for PLA/PETG filament work with both Bambu PETG HF and 3rd party PETG filaments without any issue? Do you just select the Bambu Support for PLA/PETG profile for the 2nd nozzle and set your support material as it and use the proper profile for your Bambu PETG HF or Generic PETG filament for your first nozzle and that’s it?
I dont have any experience with the support material, I have a half spool of it I was given when it was first released to test, but I never got around to it and given its price, I just used the same material im printing with to support cuz it was cheaper to do so, but I’ll give you my quick experience with PETG HF. So I could never get it to print correctly on my P1S using the PETG HF and Generic profiles. I think one issue is from factory my bed was trammed (if im using that term correctly) closer to the nozzle than my other printers. Oddly enough it prints generic petg like Kingroon, Giant Arm, CC3D and some other cheap brands using Generic PETG profile flawless. I put a spool of Pursament PETG through it and got the same issues as the bambu PETG HF so I just stick with cheaper brands as they seem to work better. I did run the PETG HF through my A1 and it printed great so I’ve chalked it up as just how the printer was setup and never messed with it because sometimes the nozzle being that close has its benefits. I have yet to try it on my H2D though, but usually when I find something that just works, i stick with it because when it aint broke, dont fix it lol.
Yeah I just might wait for PETG HF to be back in stock and try that instead of 3rd party filaments. They are more expensive but if they print without issue then it’s worth it. Or also buy one filament of Esun and try and see which one works better.
The third party filaments worked better for me in my case on my P1S. Kingroon filament might be my favorite PETG to run through my P1S. Its my go-to currently. (This is using Generic and PETG HF profiles with almost no tweaking). I used to like Esun back in the day (like the Creality Ender 3 / CR10 days) and to date its the only PLA that would snap in the bowden tube just sitting idle. It drove me nuts cuz I’d have to remove that broken piece and refeed it constantly so I havent bought them in years. I’m not to “venturous” when it comes to filaments. I find something that works perfect, i use it until it doesnt and I find something else lol. Most of what I do is for business purposes and I dont really do much printing trinkets and do-dads for myself lol.
In my opinion the generic PETG profile is not very good. I think it is derived from the PETG basic profile which was a terrible filament that was discontinued some time ago.
Instead I would try the Bambu PETG HF profile. I always use the Bambu profiles also for third party filament. Typically the generic profiles are just speed limited compared to Bambu profiles although you can print them just as fast.
Dec 2025 and Kingroon PETG is still my go-to filament using P1S.
Found and tested the PETG filament settings provided by Kingroon and works like a charm! Just lookup [ Custom Bambu lab Filament Preset, One Step that Make Your Bambu Lab Printers So Much Better] and go to the Kingroon URL from their official website to find all the settings provided by Kingroon for Bambulab printers.
