Project to automatically remove parts from build plate

I saw the NEMA 8, but have no idea what works. I have an aduino kit with a tiny stepper that I am doing to experiment with. If the model completely releases when the bed is cooled then required motor power depends mostly on weight of the objects on the plate.

Anyone that has other than the textured PEI plate, please comment on whether models fully release when the plate is cooled to ambient temp.

Hey girls and guys,

I did some testing and modifications with the files from @Heliscone

Maybe we can set up a call to exchange? Let me know if you want to

I think we can do this guys!

Also here is my GCODE for the END Gcode that works. We just need to modify the waiting time based on the final ejection system.

ā€¦

M400 ; wait all motion done
M17 S
M17 Z0.4 ; lower z motor current to reduce impact if there is something in the bottom
G1 Z250 F600 ;changed so its always moving done to the lowest position for ejection system.

;same as Standard

M400 P100
M17 R ; restore z current

G90
G1 X128 Y250 F3600

M220 S100 ; Reset feedrate magnitude
M201.2 K1.0 ; Reset acc magnitude
M73.2 R1.0 ;Reset left time magnitude
M1002 set_gcode_claim_speed_level : 0

M17 X0.8 Y0.8 Z0.5 ; lower motor current to 45% power

;same as Standard

M190 S30 ;wait for bed temp reaches 30 degree
M1004 S10 D0 P10 ;Start Swiper move forward
G4 P60000; Wait 1 minute, needs to adjusted to real swiping time
M1004 S10 D1 P10 ;Start Swiper move backward
G4 P60000; Wait 1 minute, needs to adjusted to real swiping time
M1004 S10 D0 P0 ;Stopp Swiper

G1 Z230 ;Move Z a bit up for next print calibration

Nice! Iā€™ve got some ideas and have been lurking in the thread haha.

Definitely down to join a call an evening next week if that works for you all?

What time zone are people on? Iā€™m EST.

Ah, this is terrific! I think mounting outside of the printer was a great idea, and would also love to join a call. Iā€™m in PST.

How about the 5th at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST)?

I am in Europe so I only would be available on the 5th at:

9 PM PST to 2 PM PST

Got it. I figure that itā€™d probably be best to go on either extreme, that is, 9PM-PST/12AM-EST/6AM-ish-Europe or 2AM-PST/5AM-EST/11AM-ish-Europe.

Given Iā€™m in PST, I do have a preference for the 9PM time, but I also realize thatā€™s a horribly inconvenient time for @TomB , so I am also willing to wake up at 2AM if you all prefer. Let me know what your thoughts are!

I am UTC-6 aka mountain time.

I would love to join in. I am in Europe also

Hmm, looks like weā€™ll be having some time-zone clashes:

  • MentosZ and Biocraftlab are in Europe (I guess around UTC+2)
  • TomB is in UTC-5
  • julie777 is in UTC-6
  • I am in UTC-8

Haha, we are almost maximally distant, we just need someone in Hawaii.

Hereā€™s a poll so we can sort out availability. I wonder if we can work this out for July 5th, so hereā€™s a poll for times (where 17 = 5PM and so on). If the mid-day MST/EST times donā€™t end up working, maybe we can try for a Friday/Saturday time?

  • 3 PST/5 MST/6 EST/ 12 Europe
  • 4 PST/6 MST/7 EST/13 Europe
  • 5 PST/7 MST/8 EST/14 Europe
  • 6 PST/8 MST/9 EST/15 Europe
  • 7/9/10/16
  • 8/10/11/17
  • 9/11/12/18
  • 10/12/13/19
  • 11/13/14/20
  • 12/14/15/21
  • 13/15/16/22
  • 14/16/17/23
  • 21/23/0/[6AM 7.6.2023]

Thanks for doing that! Was thinking the same thing haha.

The time zones are a bit of a pain eh? With work I can make many of those times work, so the weekend might be better. Letā€™s see what others say though!

Ah darn, itā€™s looking like I sent the poll too late, we didnā€™t get that many responses and I would not feel comfortable scheduling a meeting the day-of. Sorry about that, hereā€™s another poll except for Saturday July 8th.
[Let me know if you think of a better way to do this, by the way]

  • 3 PST/5 MST/6 EST/ 12 Europe
  • 4 PST/6 MST/7 EST/13 Europe
  • 5 PST/7 MST/8 EST/14 Europe
  • 6 PST/8 MST/9 EST/15 Europe
  • 7/9/10/16
  • 8/10/11/17
  • 9/11/12/18
  • 10/12/13/19
  • 11/13/14/20
  • 12/14/15/21
  • 13/15/16/22
  • 14/16/17/23

My lead screw parts finally arrived so that I can experiment with the mechanical aspects of the project.

Ack, this is unfortunate, we donā€™t seem to have a universal time. I guess we could record video or something similar.
Iā€™ll leave the final decision between the most popular times to @Biocraftlab since he is the one who has already a prototype we can look at! [Or maybe @julie777 also has something built?]

I realize, in hindsight, that forum polls were probably not the best way to do this, so if you were the unavailable voter for the 3/4-available times, perhaps could you choose the most popular time amongst the ones you were available?

How about now?
13/15/16/22 has 4 votes right?

Hooray!! See you all in eight hours (1PM PT and so on)
