PTFE Tube Connector on H2D Toolhead, not grabbing tube anymore?

I’m not sure why but the connector for the PTFE Tube on the toolhead, doesn’t ‘hold’ on to the tube anymore. It just sits there loosely. I’ve tried to push in as much as I could to make it grab, but it seemingly does nothing.

I’ve noticed that the ‘good’ one has a defined spring/click when you press down on it, but the one that isn’t holding, has no such spring to it.

I looked on Bambu’s Wiki to see if there’s a guide for something like this but didn’t find anything. Can anyone put me in the right direction?

You have likely damaged the internal teeth of the coupler. Always press down the release ring, then push the PTFE tube in firmly before pulling it out.

  • If you do not do it this way, this will not be the last coupler you destroy.
  • It is very easy to damage the teeth in these couplers, and the only real fix is to replace it with a new one.

I’ve never seen this connector as standard but if you can transfer the black tube on a standard ECAS04 connector (from amazon) or one taken from a BL PTFE connector or splitter you may be able to replace it. Otherwise your only solution would be to buy this until BL provides a replacement connector in the shop.

You can also take it out and see if you can bend back the gripper as a temporary fix

Hmm, I do actually have a bunch of ECAS04 connectors, I’m curious if it’ll work!

Hopefully in the future BBL comes out with an easier/cheaper replacement for just that part.

I have the same problem, but I have never removed the PTFE tubes. The tube looks like it has been cut at the end (without coming off).

Technically it worked,
The problem is, I’m not sure how those original fittings ‘stay’ in there, when I tried taking out the broken one, it broke one of the plastic bridges near the top — that might be what’s holding it in.

The good news is that the ECAS04 fitting, technically fits, I used some clear gorilla glue and left it 24 hours to set and it seems to be in there pretty snug.

You just have to make sure the blue top part is able to freely rotate since the original fitting allowed rotation as well (I think the whole body rotated too).

I haven’t tested it on the printer yet, but it functions like the previous one!

I sincerely hope that this solution doesn’t introduce other problems in time.
The flexible top is there for a reason.

I would think that reduces the stress on the PTFE tube and possibly also on the filament, when the tool head gets near the limits of its range.

AMS loading might become less stable over time. I would make sure that I have a replacement set of the Extruder Idlers at hand in case it might show issues.
