PTFE tube rubbing the glass cover

Most P2S users will have noticed the filament PTFE tube rubbing the glass cover. There are “cable clips” on MakerWorld to attach the tube to the cable rail… but when I used them I got an error message, because due to the narrow(er) bend in the tube, the filament feed was restricted and couldn’t reach the extruder. I ended up removing the extra clips and printed a “riser” (MakerWorld 1923466) that lifts the glass with 18 mm, so that the PTFE tube gets more room.

I have the X1C so not sure this fits the P2S, but this addressed the awkward angle of the PTFE loading into the head unit and the tube rubbing on the glass. Takes just a few mins to print so it might be worth a shot.

I printed the ASA version for my P2S and it seems to fit and work. Moving the toolhead around in my chamber, I always see a few mm space between the tube/guide and the cover, so it does not rub the glass cover anymore.

I will print a few projects and report back, if problems arise in “real-life”.

Just be aware that all these PTFE guides can create feeding issues, if you experience any errors you should check your guide in the first place.

Must have. Not only prevents feeding issues, saves the glass panel and PTFE tube. Should be installed from the factory.

Indeed. Stopped using them awhile ago. They can be an annoying issue to track down.

OK, I now printed a 24h project (no filament changes) and a 4h project with filament changes from my AMS on every layer → all fine so far, no problems and no rubbing on the glass cover.

Have to say, it’s still not ideal with this guide. It holds the tube 1mm below the glass panel, but thats not enough to clear the panel at faster print speeds - resulting in rattling noises. I modified the file so it’s 5mm less in overall heigt, which works perfect for me.

I removed this “upgrade”, I think it caused more friction while loading filament. Also when I loaded from an external spool by hand it was noticeably harder to push through. Another one seems better but I havent tested it yet…

OK, I’m still running 100% fine with mine, not a single problem and no scratching on glass cover. Now almost 400 h of print time and multiple prints with heavy filament changes from 3 AMS devices (two AMS 2 Pro and one AMS HT).

I will share a simple solution that solved everything.
I didn’t want to print any risers because I hate the way they look.
To prevent the tube from rubbing, I tried rearranging the original tube clips, printing more clips and printing guides, but there were always issues.
The solution was to wrap the PTFE tube in cloth tape. I used generic automotive cloth wire harness tape, which solved the problem.
The tube can rub against the glass as much as it wants and there are no issues now.

With all the rattling of a toolhead this cloth tape will sprinkle the cloth fibers like the snow in december after some longer time. Or i am wrong? I’m mad at bambu as after only a few days of owning my first bambu printer my top glass i smudged from all the ptfe debris. They had so many years so much money to fix this issue and did nothing. Having flashbacks when i looked people on YT trying to fix their new P1S by printing risers and clips, and here i am, many years later with the same issue o.O

Have to revise my statement. The PTFE tube guide is actually very dangerous, even with 5mm space to the glass cover - There are some small plastic bumps at the front of the housing, underneath the glass panel. When the print head moves from left to right in the very front, the PTFE guide can get stuck between toolhead and printer housing, resulting in failed prints, noise, printer resets. It got so worse, my glass panel was pushed up with 4kg of filament on top. If you use those guides, be extra sure it won’t get stuck in the front. I completly removed the guide and won’t use it again.
