Purge Line Issues on P2s & First layer

Hello all. I haven’t used my printer in about a month. I came back and had updates of both firmware and BL software, and successfully upgraded to the latest on both as of today, 5/2/2026. Since I started printing again, using PLA and PETG, both BL, Elegoo, and Sunlu brands of filament, I started to get a problem with the purge line and the very first few millimeters of the prints. As you can see by the image, my purge line is as thin as a human hair, and sometimes it’s not there at all. However, the prints end up looking perfect, regardless of size or shape. Does anyone know what might happen? I have about 80 hours on the printer and nozzle. Thanks.

Note that the tiny line goes straight down but gets pulled around when the head retracts, causing the bends you see.

Deal with the basics first, let’s rule out obvious bed adhesion issues.

The area you are seeing issues on sits exactly where your fingers likely make contact and can transfer natural oils we all have.

To clarify, I was the previous owner of a P1S with many hours and several issues that required trying basic remedies first. Right before posting my issue, I thoroughly and properly cleaned the build plate, removed any stuck filament from the nozzle and wiper, and vacuumed the machine. I also have bed leveling and “Flow Dynamics” set to "Auto” for all prints. Finally, I powered-cycled the printer by leaving it off for a few minutes and rebooted the PC - just in case.

The line is back! I did a full recalibration and that fixed it just in case anyone runs into the same issue.

When you say full calibration, do you mean bed level and flow dynamics, or all the calibrations in the calibrations menu on the machine?

I used the default print calibration settings as shown below. Let it do its thing - and the line returned
