Purge pile-up causing layer shift

When printing multicolor prints the poop chute backs up. I understand this and love that the machine will detect this and pause the print. However, when the print is resumed, there will be a layer shift and completely ruin the print. Is there any way to keep this from happening?

Whenever I had that, it was because the poop chute clog detection failed, warning me of a clogged chute when the nozzle had already slammed into blocked poop. At best, I had a layer shift, at worst a bent nozzle.
The best way to get around this is to keep the poop chute clear.
Do you still have the little aluminum plate at the top of the chute? If not, replace it with some Al foil. There are also a number of threads here about preventing poop chute clogs but unfortunately I can not comment. Best search and form your own opinion.

Thanks, I did not realize that the machine wasn’t warning me until after the print was already messed up. I printed a chute cap from Maker world and that seemed to help. It backed up overnight but stopped early enough to not cause the shift! I have a poop chute printed but I think I need a different poop catcher on these long multicolor prints.

I have my X1 sitting on a small filing cabinet, just about large enough for the printer. That way, I can use a 5 litre bin as a giant poop bucket. And still it is overflowing
