Hi everyone. Quick question. Should the purge tower have strings extending past the purge tower? Is this normal? Please see photo. At first I thought it was because the nozzle blocker was bent too low so a quick bend upward fixed that the nozzle wipe from stringing, but still see stringing in purge tower. It occurs on the purge tower only. Is this normal on H2D?
Ome of the functions of a purge tower os indeed to capture oozed material. So in principle, yes it is normal.
As long as your actual print is fine, you should never stress over a prime tower.
No it’s not normal . On tall printing this might end in blobbing and knock the tower down. We have reported this many times and we haven’t got an answer yet
Fairly normal on an H2D I think due to nozzle swapping, not ideal and hopefully they will improve it over time.
Would be interesting to try a test with a single nozzle to see if it still happens,
Not normal by 3Dprinting standards and knowledge, “normal” according to some here. Guess crashing the prime tower and bending the flow blocker because of this is normal too… Ive given up really
If you watch the printer (maybe it’s only after swapping nozzles? I don’t actually recall seeing it on single nozzle prints), it extrudes while making a couple circles at the side of the prime tower before starting to actually move across it. This is normal behavior and seems to be an attempt to catch extra residue, but does leave a bad looking prime tower. It’s actually kinda interesting because different filaments leave different effects. Wooden filaments leave spiky strings coming off it, TPU oozes and leaves blobs, etc
Yes the prints are amazing aside from an occasional layer shift. Just want to ensure my H2Ds are up to snuff and trying to understand the logic behind this happening.
Makes sense. Yea I was thinking the same thing. It was odd how it’s different from print to print. The type of filament must be a factor as well as the nozzle changes. I need to watch and see when exactly this happens. This must be expected behavior. Seems like everyone has this issue.
Alrighty it’s totally normal and actually a good thing! Those little defects would otherwise end up on your model. You’ll mostly notice it during multi-color prints, especially when switching between colors. Also multi-material prints. Things like filament humidity can also cause weird extrusion behavior, so it’s just part of the process with multi-material printing. You need to extrude till the flow is constant.
