“Detect thin walls” would likely create the opposite in this example and would remove the thin bristles.
This setting helps with something thin that is embedded as it will move the boundary walls a bit to make space for the thin sections within but with thin stand alone features or something thin that is embossed (e.g. text) it tends to remove the thin features.
