Putting a clear top ironing layer on a piece

Hi All, hope someone can answer this. I am making intricate keychains with 4-7 different colors. The facedown part comes out great, but using a .4 nozzle is leaving tiny holes, and these are dual faced so the top part is left with little bumps where the filament changes happen. What I would like to do is add on thin layer on top using transparent PLA and have it ironed on as it would do if the top was a solid color.

Can this be done using Studio?

Depending on your geometry, you may be able to get away with a simple “change filament at layer x” (slice → preview → rightclick the rightside slider)

If not:
Create an STL that represents your top face that’s one or two layers in thickness
Import the STL as a “part” to your keychain
Orient the part
Assign the part the correct filament
Enable ironing and/or assign that “part” to be ironed (dont know if this will work, but a further modifier cube w/ ironing will definitely let you)

I see what your saying. I had watched a video on speeding up prints and he used modifiers so I know what you are referring to. What I have a problem with is the top layer has 8 colors, so even if I could lock all 8 to one color, it would still be printing the pattern of all the colors. I did try something after posting. I went back to the keychain creator and selected the default plate, and made it very thin, then chose a separate color. If what I see happens to work, I wlll have solved the problem for this one. I have a couple that flip the image over, and your method might work too, so will give it a try once the filament arrives.
