lol… did he break YouTube again? Unless he did a recent video though, that is probably old news (by about 7 months)…
Love Louis Rossman.
What was it about?
Yes, and to be honest, I really don’t care. You buy in to the ecosys either knowingly or find out later, and it doesn’t cost the world to find other solutions to blistering fast core XY with all the bells and whistles. I should get back to upgrading my clunky Tenlog IDEX that started life as an 8Bit and now capable 32bit, with wifi, auto bed leveling, and something close to Klipper is possible. But the simple fact that I can create two colour, two component models, say for instance a soccer ball, and using Cura and hand it off to the IDEX to produce with two independant extruders. Bambu Studio doesn’t know what to do with these files. And I am not into painting my hard design work even if the file didn’t fall apart of the build plate when combining …
Not sure whether he is into 3DP but he was on about the Bambu ecosys. And of course the video featured Clinton the cat who was curled up nearby.
video titled Bambu Lab Firmware Update Forces Cloud Dependency & User Lock-In
The problem was NOT the ecosystem and lock-in. Not specifically, anyway (the fact that it’s generally rubbish is another matter). It was the RETROACTIVE change to their terms of service. After people had bought something based on false advertising.
Selling something as it is (open in LAN, useable with other Slicers, etc) and then blocking it is just plain nasty, there’s nothing more to say about it. And that with a “security” Feature that wasnt secure and hacked in minutes.
Well put. You may now take point. I wasn’t absolutely clear on the details. Been neck deep in a CNC mill upgrade that is just a tad out of my wheelhouse.
