Does having so many hours on my printer make it unreliable? If I wanted to “refurbish” it, would replacing the belts and pulleys be enough or would there be other elements that should be changed?
Here’s a description of the problem I’m facing:
This problem occurs randomly, around once every four prints, and the layer it affects is random as well. It’s like an under extrusion on a single layer, of a single object of the print job.
If I encounter the issue, I can send the print again, and usually have no problem, or if it happens again, it won’t be at the same layer. The poor layer doesn’t cause the print to fail on the build plate. It will finish the print, but the object can be snapped apart at that one layer.
The bed doesn’t shift, I’ve seen prints like that, where the rest of the model is printed slightly askew, that’s not the case here. I have three other P1P printers and one P1S, I can send the same file to those and not have an issue.
When this started I changed out the extruder and hot end, did a full clean and regrease of the lead screws. I also switched to a different SD card and reformatted it, but this still comes up.
I’d like to keep this work horse going. Any thoughts? Anyone else ever refurb their P1P?
