I’m not printing black and there’s no black loaded in the AMS. I keep finding black boogers. Sometimes they’re on the plate and I catch them before they ruin anything. Sometimes they fall during the print and get embedded inside (no harm). Sometimes they fall on the top layer and ruin it.
I thought they were filament boogers so I did a cold pull with white filament. Nothing.
Then I realized when I rub one between my fingers it comes apart, like a cinder or something.
I checked the silicone sock thinking maybe it came from there but it’s clean.Any idea? Invisible aliens flicking boogers?
AI said something about charred filament but I can’t find any info on anything like that.
Oh, and it’s only happening on one of my A1’s.
Edit: I just started a red print and there’s a black booger in the purge line and another in the purge tower.. So weird. I looked in the poop bucket and there are lots of poops with black boogers! I’m guessing I need to take my extruder apart.
Chuck, is the A1 this is happening to under an AC vent by any chance?
No, nothing nearby. I’ve looked all over to see if there’s some debris in the rails, etc.
I have seen pom wheels make a dust that was the consistency of soot but there are no poms on a Bambu. This is a curious one. I think you might be right about checking in the extruder though.
Another mystery… we’ve noticed that lately a lot of users posts are showing up in quote boxes. It just started out of the blue. When you posted the first post in this thread did you do anything differently?
No I just clicked New Topic.
Swapping in a new nozzle or hotend and see if the problem goes away.
I know you said you had used AI and couldn’t find further info, but ChatGPT is a good source for this kind of problem actually,. It will list some solution suggestions for you to try.
edit: I just copied and pasted your post into ChatGPT and got the chared plastic dx, explanations, and a list of solution options. I would try that.
I checked the extruder gears and they are clean. Then I turned around my nozzle and the whole back of it is covered with black plastic.
What’s the best way to get it off? A flame and a wire brush? For some reason my only spare is missing the magnet so I need to get this one cleaned up.
