I have had my X1C for about 6 months now and least to say it has been a rollercoaster of printing. Some come out great some come out okay and then horrible.
But now I am at the stage where it just doesn’t want to print correctly. I was printing PLA Basic and it ran out, I moved a roll of PLA Silk in its place and started the print… This was probably not the right way to do this but wasn’t thinking when I did it.
Well it printed the next probably 1/2" fine then it started separating and looking horrible as in the picture. This has gotten worse now ever print is just spitting and not printing and I am using PETG. Stock printer, stock profiles nothing special.
I can’t for the love of god figure out why it just won’t print correctly now. I tried the nozzle un clogging doesn’t appear to be clogged, honestly feels like its having intermittent feeding issues.
Additional info I have had a hell of time trying to get PETG to print worth a dang on this thing too. Tried the door open, closed, other profiles just seem to suck almost every time.
That is what I was starting to think I have a ton of decadent packs in the AMS with a temp and humidity sensor it’s at about 22% right now.
I have the PETG sitting in a dryer tonight and will test it again. Here is a print of the PLA Silk first layer sheet. Trying to do some flow calibration now to see if that helps with it.
So I let the petg dry in the sunlu dryer for 48 hours at 55°c and shows 18% RH. I tried to do a flow calibration two times failed, so I tried a first layer and it’s a disaster…
I can print pla zero problems but as of last week after the filament switch during a print this disaster has made me hate the X1C. I almost feel like I own my ender 3 again.
Here is what the bed looked like using generic petg setting but adjust temps to 245°c and 85°c. I’ve tried lower and higher without luck.
I am starting to wondering if something is wrong with hot end or what am I missing for this printer to just hate petg so much.
This was with overture petg, however same result using the Bambu petg too.
I had very similar issues with PETG, I buy the odd roll of Ziro filament as you get a free micro roll of nozzle cleaning filament, a sealable mylar coated bag, a free sample of their more exotic filaments and a card to writ printing notes on for the filament, its great filament with the best windings I have ever seen, even better than Prusament.
Using the nozzle cleaning filament solved my issue, there were micro burnt pieces of filament stuck inside the nozzle, you can fit your spare nozzle to see if this is your issue also.
I was going to fit the spare nozzle but seen the sensors on it and figured needed the thermal compound to swap it started crumbling when I was messing with it. Didn’t want to mess it up but I keep going back to the nozzle being clogged I am like 99% sure. Cause I do get some black blobs every once in a while.
Would a cold pull possibly pull everything out? I will have to check that filament out cause I really haven’t had much luck with overture.
It’s a great purchase as to buy the nozzle cleaning filament alone is £9.99 and some of the ones on Amazon are not even true nozzle cleaning filament, it’s just Nylon filament! Whereas the Ziro one is the real Mcoy!
Be sure to use the external filament method as it is flexible and will get stuck in the AMS.
Once it has done the purge poop unload the filament as the poop is enough to clean the nozzle.
What’s crazy is I was able to do a cold pull. Print one first layer sheet and it did pretty darn good. Then I printed one thing and now it’s doing it all over again.
I just got in a whole bunch of pla yesterday I printed eight prints on PLA and had zero issues I don’t understand this.
