I read on a YouTube comment that overhang performance was improving for people if they ran a factory reset + all calibrations. I re-ran the calibrations only including the 100c bed leveling calibration and it seems to have improved my print quality. My ironing is injection molded quality now, like flawless. I also noticed the motors sound slightly quieter than before. Has anyone else re-run the calibrations after letting the machine break in for a bit? Is there any logic in this outcome or am I grasping at straws? I’m curious if after a few heat cycles the machine would operate optimally if it was recalibrated once again.
hard to give a sure answer because this is not an open source printer, so everything we are talking is basically assumptions.
The assumption is that, there’re some parameters that are unchangeable once set, unless a factory reset was done. Then you can do a full calibration to fix it up.
I don’t really believe in it, but it doesn’t hurt much to do a factory reset anyway, as a full cal always take longer.
The most varying calibration here is the Motor Noise Cancellation, and Input Shaper. Both relying on the accelerometer. Which is usually a bit hit or miss. So if your previous calibration was working fine, then you might get a slight improvement after a calibration or get a slight degradation. Also I would suggest to do it in quieter hours without AC and other potentially humming stuff going on. E.g., some fridges.

Hard to say. But I always do this for larger updates that take longer. I skip the first calibration step after a factory reset and do the 100 degree bed calibration and vision plate.
I don’t do this for smaller updates.
In the end, it’s probably a question of faith.
