… there isn’t a great deal of PLA Basic with Spools available at present - currently just Jade White and Blue) which is a shame as I want to buy some filament with the printer and take advantage of the discounts you can get when buying filament together with the printer.
Just hoping it comes back in to stock before the offer ends, otherwise I’ll just have to buy the printer and pay full price for filament on spools to get me up and running.
There are more filaments than PLA Basic you may want to try. Like PLA Matte and PETG, TPU and PVA. I bought PLA Matte with my A1 Combo last year and was impressed with it. Also I don’t recommend you buying refill filament. I feel it is not the way to start as a new comer. But then, maybe you are not a new comer to 3D printing, so then what do I know.
Hi Locoman, I sure am a new comer to 3D printing, never had a 3D printer or used one before. I was looking at the PLA Matte, but like the PLA Basic most colours on a spool are out of stock here in the UK. White and Blue are in stock for PLA Basic and there are a few more options for PLA Matte, currently 5 options, but I was hoping to get some Christmas colours really and neither Red or Green is available on either filament with a spool so far.
Can I ask why you don’t recommend a filament refill, they’re cheaper than the spool version, not by much admittedly and think I saw a video on youtube during my research about how to put a refill on a spool.
Usually there’s a Christmas bundle offered around this time every year. With the several launches it may be put on the back burner this year. With that bundle though you won’t get any real discount.
The filament discount is usually always active, as long as you buy 4 rolls.
You’ve got a little while before the end of the sale. Just load the cart and be ready to buy if the restock happens.
Oh, and Sunlu has some good prices on Amazon for filament. Between $15 and $18. Their red silk is very comparable to the BL.

Do a search on “filament refill spools” you will see a lot of people have had problem with the spools opening up or with the filament packaging.
When I bought my addition filament I looked around for something reasonable, hopefully tried and true, readily US available (which I can get on Amazon), been around for a while. cost was reasonable, I settled on Creality, since they make printers and which I thought didn’t come from China (which I was wrong there) I was concerned with upcoming T-tariffs of stuff from China to the US. So over the past year, I mostly printed with Creality PLA-HS, the BL PLA-matte that I got with my printer, and a couple of PLA-silk off brands when I needed some special filament, and I have not any serious problems with any of them. I always print with standard setups, normal or silent speed, textured plate, standard .3mf unmodified file. I like that you just load the file and press print, and it prints, without having to know anything about g-code, the ins and outs how the printer works, designing objects and converting them into files you can print, and the tons of files from other makers sharing their work with us on this site. I bought during the Black Friday sale last year and bought early and glad I did, because BL ran out of available stock really fast and there was a lot of “talk” about slow shipping, no communication, etc, etc. My printer came within two weeks, where as others took a month or more. Be aware. If I were you push the button soon, you can always get filament any time or any place. It is the printer with combo that is critical. Also there are some extra parts (for repair or replacement) you may want to get while on sale. After I received my printer I decided to spend about another $100 on parts before the T-tariffs kicked in and the was when I found out the BL had a outlet in the US. But I don’t regret getting the parts, I only used a few of them, but glad I had them when I needed them and having to wait a week or more to get the print back up and going. Also, I have heard here by others and the UK outlet has not always gotten certain stock in a timely manner or at all. You may want to do a search what others are saying about that issue. I feel that I got a little carried away here, I might have to go and take a nap.
