Remove the Laser part of MW

I would like to suggest adding a setting on MW to remove the everything about Laser & Cut.

Just noted that they are now putting out contests in that category, which is great but it’s confusing to have them among the 3D contests.

Agreed, Contest related to laser cutting should be inside the Laser & cut model Tab.
i was about to design a Model thinking that they republished the Boxes and Containers Contest and i usually do pre work for contests that havent started yet, so this will be confusing and counter productive.

i also want to add @MakerWorld you promised that the month of May update will contain the contest detailed Theme on the contest pre announcement…when will this be happening?
Edit: Contest banner need to have a button redirecting to the model page that is displayed in the banner (notice boxes and container contest the user’s name is in chinese).

Why? It’s a contest, so it’s under the “Contest” tab… the other ones aren’t under the “3d Model” tab either.

it was previously brought to developer’s attention to at least post the contest details before the contest starts for user’s to prepare their work, because user’s who prepares models based on titles find out that the details are totally different than what the title means.

now back to laser contests there should be at least a way to differ the contest from 3d prints and laser cut…and maybe just maybe my suggestion is a bit too much so i would be satisfied if they mention (laser contest) on the pre announcement titles.

It’s not that deep.

BL was a manufacturer of 3D printers until a good month ago. Just guessing in the blue, about 95% of their customers are still pure 3D printing users.

Until H2D reaches the masses (which will probably never happen at this price, and not everyone who has a 3D printer is automatically interested in lasers), mixing the two topics is nonsensical. And so is focussing too much on the current (!) niche product.

In order not to change the familiar image of the website too much for the majority of users or to impose more steps on them, it would actually only be logical to better isolate the small part (namely lasers).

The whole thing can actually be organised quite easily by simply giving users a switch in their settings. Just like with the stupid auto-translate setting. If you don’t want to see anything from Laser, simply uncheck the box and get rid of the categories and additional menu items.

Don’t really see the problem here…

Indeed; and they responded by saying they’ll take care of it in one of the next updates… so you’re basically upset because it didn’t happen right away the next day? Also, what are you designing that you need an extra week so desperately… there’s plenty of time during the contest to finish the design. Obviously, you can use the pre-announcement of the contest to start brainstorming, but why would you already start an actual design?

It even says it twice…

Same here, that’s what sparked this thread.

Makerworld has been 100% 3D-print up until the release of H2D. Probably 95% of the users are not interested in the laser part of MW.

A toggle to just shut all Laser related stuff off would be a god send!

looking at the bright side, i don’t think we will see a lot of laser cut contests, it is 2D constrained.
