Removed from contest for?

I uploaded a model for this competition 10 days ago and today received a message saying that my model had been removed because it didn’t fit the competition theme.

The theme is: ‘You’re invited to design new body shells, rims & wheels, or develop any kind of accessories’.

That’s exactly what I did: I made rims for the 4WD car.

I downloaded the original STEP file.
I adapted my design to it; all mounting points on the back remained the same so that the rims can be fitted without any problems.
Marked as remix after entering the contest.

This is the first competition I’ve entered, and I don’t really understand what I did wrong.

Out of curiosity, did you get a point reduction?

You may have violated rule 6. It seems like they want a whole car, including cyberbrick components, not just a part.

Contests are a mess and always have been.

On the Theme page it says: You’re invited to design new body shells, rims&wheels, or develop any kinds of accessories, such as functional add-ons, decorative elements, obstacles, garages, and more for these two models.

Rule 6 sounds for me, to just mark you contest model as remix for one of the original cars.

If you sort the contest entries to “downloads” the 12th place is the first one to correctly mark the original modell and set the contest model as remix.

As of right now, I got no points deducted.

As I said, contests are a mess. I dont even look at them anymore.

Once a similar thing happened to me, I kindly wrote to support and in less than 24 hours they returned my model to the contest. I didn’t mind much about contest, I was more worried if such “violations” are in any way connected with how my models are ranked in search results and other recommendation algorithms.

I opened a ticket yesterday and got a negative answer:

So if you enter rims in a competition that’s about rims and other things, you’ll get a slap on the wrist.
Because rims don’t fit the theme…of rims….

I dont have a dog in this hunt, and I really struggle with the word “remix” , but it is clear to me they want a “remix” with your new design on it, and photos of the model with your changes/remix.

You’re invited to design new body shells, rims&wheels, or develop any kinds of accessories, such as functional add-ons, decorative elements, obstacles, garages, and more for these two models.

To enter the contest, upload your remix of the CyberBrick 4WD Car or 4x4 Mini Off-Roader on MakerWorld

Can’t design obstacles or garages that way.

I see it as:
Upload as original, enter contest, mark as remix to one of those two cars.
So the cars get displayed on each contest entry as “This remix is based on”

Anyway thanks for all your responses, at least I know now: Don’t spend too much time, thinking about any contests in the future🤦‍♂️

Like I said, I struggle with the word “remix” but your wheels are not a remix , they are original unique.

Nah, they are based on the original rims in the step file the original author provided.
I didn’t design them from scratch. I modified his design. Basically just the spokes of the rim.

The contests do not make sense. Yours was removed for being irrelevant meanwhile this is in the Bonsai contest.

I simply messaged MakerWorld on my Ticket:
How do rims not fit for the theme “You’re invited to design new body shells, rims&wheels…”

And after another 4 days of thinking, they came to the final conclusion that my rims fit for the theme of “creating rims”.
