Repeated “Extruder Overload” error with PETG on H2D at the exact same spot

Hey everyone,

I’m having an issue with my H2D when printing PETG. After a few hours of printing, I always get an “Extruder Overload” error. What’s strange is that it happens at the exact same spot in the model, even though the extruder is not clogged.

I’ve tried several times to just press “Resume” after the error, and sometimes it continues printing for another 30 minutes or so. But after a certain point, it just stops extruding completely.

I’ve printed the same model twice, and both times the error occurred in the same layer area.

I’m attaching:

  • A photo of my print settings
  • A picture of the failed print
  • A link to the print file

Has anyone experienced this kind of consistent overload error before? Could it be something with the G-code, motion system, or material feeding?

Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated.

Have you tried increasing the filament extrusion temperature? Try 10 degrees hotter…or google that filament recommended temp, but go hotter.

replace your ptfe tube, cut a new tube that is about 1cm longer.

Yes I did, I had set the temperature to 260 degrees when the error occurred

I didn’t print PETG from the AMS, does it make that much of a difference if I print externally?

It means that your filament path has too much restriction and friction, so reduce those

The PTFE tube from the back of the printer to the toolhead. It might be too short.
It will also happen if you don’t use a AMS.

Why does it only happen after 2–3 hours? Or is it a gradual process, where the extruder gets too hot?

Good question, I could imagine the extruder maybe gets too hot over time because of the friction. As @hotellonely said.

Not sure if you ever figured out your issue but I wanted to share my experience since it presented very similarly as repeated “Extruded Overloaded” errors at the exact same spot (luckily in the beginning) of a print.

In my case, I run my H2D with a 0.6 nozzle on the left and 0.4 on the right.
In Bambu Studio, for simplicity and to be explicit, I manually toggle the plate level controls to set the correct nozzle.

I had a project where one plate had the nozzle correctly selected.

The other plate in the same project had it on “Auto”.
Both plates were sliced with a 0.6 nozzle.
However, the plate that was on “Auto” had the “Extruded Overloaded” error.

Somehow “Auto” mode was correctly selecting the left nozzle during the beginning of the print, but then failing shortly after print began (~1 min into the print).

The fix for me was to again explicitly set the manual assignment of the filament to the left nozzle and re-slice.

Maybe this will help somebody else.
