Long story short, my bed failed and Bambu sent me a replacement. While taking apart my H2D, I noticed my printer has an AC board with three bed cable ports (for the red, brown, blue cables), but the new bed only has two (brown and blue). The replacement guide doesn’t mention this at all.
I found a note in the H2D → H2C guide saying if your bed has three cables but the board has two ports, contact support—but nothing about the opposite case. Looking at the shop images, it seems they’ve updated the AC board and removed the third connector.
I’ve contacted support but won’t hear back until after Chinese New Year. Posting this as a heads-up for anyone replacing their bed, and to see if others in the same situation just plugged in the new one. For now, I’m not touching it until support replies, just to be safe.
Hey, I’m on 120v, one of my friends who does electrical was saying how they most likely had all three ports to support both 120v and 220v so they don’t have to make many variations.
I bet that’s it exactly but don’t know how the heaters are wired to help further. I just didn’t want people telling you how it should be wired if they are referring to the wrong voltage configuration.
Yeah its sketchy, and I would hate to accidentally assume its safe and then bambu is like “why did you do that” lol. Sucks that I’ll have to wait a while. Maybe one of their global support techs can give a response soon.
Support will be a tad slow during CNY but it does not close, you should get your answer. I would guess, the ground is removed but if that’s the case, the AC board or the bed should now include GFCI protection which the old 3 wire board may not have but I suppose it’s in the bed so certainly it is just a matter of connecting the 2 wires on your 3 prong board. I would still wait for support or avoid touching the metal part around the bed just in case anything funny happens…
Edit: I did not look at your picture, so it’s 2 lines and 1 neutral, so no ground. Could be 120/240V but most likely 2 heating elements that are now interconnected within the bed.
Yeah looking again at the store listings I realized too the connectors on my board are vertical, and the new version seems to have made them horizontal (utilizing the other 2 solder pads)
I went ahead and edited the photo to be rotated, sadly tho it appears they solder in a different directions as well as removing one of the “load” ports.
They are sending ANOTHER bed that is supposedly up to date. I asked if my AC board is the newest one, but based on the photos and info I sent them, they concluded that the bed they sent is the old one (with the 2 cables instead of 3)
Yeah I preordered as soon as it was available so Im not sure how I have an updated board. But to be fair too I also have the updated filament guide that has 3 screws instead of 4.
Dude. word for word is my situation, after I mentioned how the first bed I got was wrong, they dispatched another bed. Once I asked them if this bed will have 2 or 3 wires, instead of answering they said “sorry for the inconvenience we dispatched another AC board”. So hopefully the board will be the right version lol
