I have been reporting unrelated contest entries in my free time, and I usually got a successful report notification the next day or 2. However, ever since reporting 2 contests submissions for non-contests related reasons (plagiarism and lack of print images, respectively) I have gotten next to no notifications, regardless of the type of report, only getting a notification for the plagiarized model. the reported models still exist, so this isn’t a problem with the notification system. Is something going on that might make reports slow? am I shadowbanned from reporting?
PS: if you find some unrelated contest submissions yourself, please report them.
It may be, but it doesn’t have to be. If you report too many things in a short space of time, the system will think you are spamming and block you temporarily. However, you would have to report quite a lot in one day for that to happen.
It is much more likely that MakerWorld simply doesn’t see things the way you do, as is often the case in competitions. They allow almost anything in their competitions. …or they’re on vacation, which is also a possibility.
Most people stopped doing that a long time ago. Take a look at the forum about the competition. There’s actually a whole thread about how many submissions are irrelevant to the competition.
If you really want to achieve something, then you’d better focus on stolen models. Why? Because even if you report things that are unrelated to the competitions, it has absolutely no consequences for the users.
Believe me, you’ll keep doing that for a while until you realize it’s pointless.
I believe they just gave up.
They answer like a tenth of the reports I send, only when they are accepted.
And sometime even if they are accepted… nothing changes in the model or the profile reported.
This was my final conclusion too. I originally had the same theory as the OP that they would ignore over a certain number of reports, but them throwing in the towel seems more likely at this point.
They haven’t given up, I’ve had some reports come back as successfully removed in the last few days. What is more likely the case is they have a finite bandwidth with regards to moderating all the reports across the whole site and likely have to triage things. I suspect contest entry reports are a lower priority than say IP claims for example
