Sent my first report of a model that was posted and I had made a while back myself (Not my design by the way) and got a message today saying the clone had been taken down and thanks for helping the community. That’s fine I don’t mind helping out as I would hate it if my work shows up under someone else’s name! but to encourage more people to report things like this why don’t bambu give reward points for doing this…? (just an idea) I only found it as I like looking at new models and rewarding them with my boosts even when I have no intention for printing them myself. I like seeing good design and hard work rewarded.
People would figure a way to point farm this. You report for the good of the community and for cleanliness of your own repository, not for internet points.
Please explain how people would point farm this ?? Reporting people that rip other people off should be rewarded if not in points in other ways ? I have found a few of my models on other sites passed off as there own ! Now I allow coping as long as I get a little bit of credit as the original creator. Sorry to say we live in a world of greed and unless there is an incentive to do something then most people just look the other way!!! You need to encourage good behaviour and reward it.!! Not look for a reason to not do it!
Create fake accounts, upload loads of stolen models to those fake accounts, then report the fakes from their real account and reap the rewards. And you can’t just add a limitation/condition to earning the points, since then people who don’t qualify simply won’t report stuff until they do, reducing the number of overall reports.
Absolutely no reward for reporting anything, please. We do not want “professional reporters” in our community. Ask them to hire you as a moderator, if you want.
Bambu has enough reports to ignore now, this would just overwhelm them. ![]()
People would abuse this, but blowing up the comments section with public shame and only using the OP’s files might help a little.
I think that the only way that this would work is if a person steals your model and gets points from it. Those points should be taken away and rewarded to the original model.
Already do.
Among other things.
eh, maybe. How about you and i get in on it. I’ll create a burner account and post your models. You let it go until some points come in then I let you get it taken down so you get the points. The we reverse it…
I’m just brainstorming here man.
I think they need to just finally have people link their phone numbers to their account as discussed a million times before.
There will always be trash out there
Not trying to give you any problems.
My point is more to this has been discussed to death over the past year and here we are.
My mother had a saying that I share now and then. “You can wish in one hand and ■■■■ in the other. See which fills up faster.”
Probably don’t have to define that one but keep trying to get something done about AI images and see what happens.
Your right.
This has been discussed to death, but Bambu is still not doing a thing about it. That is disappointing but that is just the way it is right now.
We have a community that is only managed by the community members. Which Frankly it seems like a lot of the community members are children that do not know what they are talking about.
I would be surprised if anyone from maker world actually reads the forums.
They are not even listening to the biggest creators on the platform.
To use AI models as an example, that has been going on for years from what I can tell, but there is still no solution to it. I personally do not mind the idea of them only doing stuff about models that have been reported, but the problem is where they do not do anything.
Another example is the Battleship contest right now. It rubs me the wrong way when people know they are breaking the rules but use the excuse along the lines of “other people are breaking them, so why can’t I”. That is a F***ing ridiculous argument. It is a free for all out there.
I have been putting together a model of the I400 submarine, but why the hell would I post it if it is just going to be shadowed by a random ship from a cartoon or the many Titanic models.
What is the point of having rules if people are not going to follow them. But why would they follow them if they can just get away with it. A rule that is not enforced is not a rule.
I feel like all they want is people to post more and more models on the platform no matter what quality they are.
To actually get back to the point, why are people asking for some sort of compensation reporting models? Because that is something that Bambu should be doing themselves.
I have a saying, and you won’t like it.
Their Playground, their rules.
If they don’t want to police the rule breakers then it keeps on. They know what’s going on. Simply put it brings traffic, which is all they want.
If you or I or Jimmy John wants’ to complain, well that’s a small price to pay for the traffic that brings in the income.
Yes it’s annoying, and feel free to vent. Know others of us feel the same way and will always spout off in one of these threads. Just don’t for a second think it will change. That’s how you keep your sanity.
Good luck, and Godspeed.
It just does not make sense to me how they know that people are pissed off, but do not do anything about it.
Just have to remember that they are just a heartless Corportation
hmmm
no actually I think youve got a good hold of it
I don’t know if I’d say heartless, just a corporation.
It’s a numbers game. They let it get out of hand and the only way to really get it back would to be dropping a nuke on MW and redoing the rewards (should stop).
They have some money cows I’m sure they take care of. They drive traffic. The pretty pictures drive traffic. Little Johnny downloads a file to make his own jet airplane. If it comes out looking like a microwave oven then he’ll just download another. He won’t rate it bad, look how many 1 star reviews are out there.
It just goes on and on and on…
It seems like all of the one star reviews I have left get taken down after a week or so
Because it’s not hard to get one removed.
Kinda funny how it all works. Low reviews are reported by the person that posted the model. MW takes them down. Now we cant have full trust in the rating system.
Btw (Directed towards everyone not John) the whole arguement to get compensation for reports is idiotic. Since MW rarely reads reports before acting on them. What stops someone from reporting every single model on the trending page? I can see someone easily setting up a bot script to do that if it becomes monetized. People already have encouragement to report a model if they recognize that it is a copy of their own. Most people wont even see that it is a copy because they have not seen both prints. Defending a creator that you like or yourself from theft should be enough compensation. Just my 2 cents.
