Residue from print plate (original BL PEI textured)

I was printing black BL PETG on the original P2S textured PEI plate and it came out like this with what looks like residue from the previous prints:

I am always cleaning with water and dish soap / detergent - am I doing something wrong or what can I improve to get a clean finish for darker PETG prints on a non-dedicated plate?

This are additives to make it high flow compatible if you’re asking me. But I don’t know for sure. It’s annoying. I hate it. Some people claim one must let the plate cool down to avoid stress marks; but I don’t see a connection as it happens too when leaving a print on the plate for a day… or two

Yikes did not know about that yet! I am indeed using PETG HF…so there is no way to not have that on the plate with this particular filament type? Or should I just print a big square as “base” so its at least evenly “contaminated” :sweat_smile:

I was refraining from using 99.9 IPA, could that be an option?

When I used ipa this ■■■■■ was even more visible compared to soapy warm water. I think switching to frostbite helps, but it won’t magically disappear and your frostbite plate most likely loves dark colo(u)es and preserves them. Sidenote: frostbite and glacier show after 20h+ already visible spots/dots where the nozzle hit the plate during homing sequence. When the coating of said plates flakes away it becomes an issue, but you’ll have fun for 500h minimum

I searched a bit more in the forum and thanks to @Northern_Printworks in White Spots on PETG - #10 by Northern_Printworks I blasted it with a heat-gun for a few seconds and :tada: A bit hard to catch with the camera and light. In real life it looks much better.

If the heat gun fixes it, it means there’s some room for you to tune that filaments first layer temp and/or bed temp. White haze means too hot, usually.

Interesting! Thanks for the advice @Bullocks ! I was just using the BL default from the RFID, will tune it down a bit and experiment, that’s the fun part of the rookie journey :face_with_monocle:

Bambu Studio defaulted to 70°C for the bed actually and printing at 230°C extrusion temp. What would be more reasonable temperatures from your experience?

It may help to let the print cool completely before removing it from the plate. Or toss the whole plate and print in the freezer for ten minutes. The white can be stress marks caused by pulling the print from the plate.

Was waiting for this. Even a day after didn’t change it. It’s additives, not stressing the Mark.

Yeah, same experience as @Milosh_Keat on my end - I had the print and plate cool down next to an open window over night (near freezing temps around here). That did not make any difference at all for the next parts after a detergent rinse.
