I’d like to give props when they’re due so here goes:
I entered the 3D printing world a year ago with an A1 w/AMS Lite. Loved it so much I purchased an A1 mini. About a month later I purchased the P1S. Then 2 months later a P2S (which I returned unopened for another P1S after hearing many horror stories.)
Back in April my first P1S became problematic. Out of nowhere the AMS would feed the filament, then roll it back out, then feed it again, then repeat the process. I cleaned out everything, lubed everything, system reboot…and no fix. Then the AMS wouldn’t detect the filament at all. Next, the printer wouldn’t connect to my WiFi. Made me frustrated as I only had 1,000 hours on it. But I left it and figured I’d send a support ticket when I had time in the summer.
A week later, my A1 starts performing similarly. Wouldn’t print, the AMS Lite was not detecting filament, I just couldn’t get it to function. And then it wouldn’t connect to my wifi. At this point my frustration got the better of me and I threw the A1 across the yard (yes, literally) because, at 2500 hours, I figured it had run it’s course (and because that’s how I am. You should see me working on engines when something doesn’t work! Not proud of myself.)
About 3 weeks ago I decided to submit a support ticket as opposed to throwing my P1S across the backyard. Within 2 days they responded and required pictures of the screen and SN#’s. That took a day and their response was a day later. They instructed me to try a reboot and send photos. I did that, sent them in and a day from that they informed me they would be sending me a new motherboard and PTFE buffer.
Those components arrived about 3 days later, were installed and still had the same problems, the first being that I couldn’t connect to the wifi. A day later they told me to send them the new mobo’s SN# and a day after that I was up and connected. Tried to print a benchy…and STILL wouldn’t function. The AMS just kept loading, then unloading, then loading…
Responded to the support ticket and told them my current issue. They said to remove the extruder and see if there was anything stuck. Sure enough, after digging deeper than what they suggested, I found a piece of filament lodged in the gears! I removed that after some struggle, put everything back together and…STILL, the printer failed to perform. Replied on the same ticket. A day later they informed me that they were sending an Extruder Filament Sensor, which I received 3 days later. Installed that part yesterday and…we’re up and running again!!! (For now
)
So, despite this lengthy post I have to give a shout out to Bambu Labs Support! I was afraid they’d be useless and difficult to get a hold of but, this experience is how a company should be. They will continue to receive my business and my recommendation. I hope that Bambu Labs can continue the customer support like they did with me for all of their customers in the future!
Thank you Bambu Labs Support Team!
