Rough underhang bottoms

Hey folks,

I’m trying to print this part and it’s coming out pretty well except for the bottom of the underhang shown here:

This is how it looks closeup:

How do I fix that? Printer is P1S, filament is 3D-Fuel PLA+ Pro.

I will let someone else give advice on support settings, but what I think I see is something I always have problems with, you still have good amount of the interface layer stuck to your part.

Thanks, but I’m not using supports under this. It’s not necessary for that angle.

Anyways, its only not necessary if you tune your printer well to the filament. Do flow dynamics/k factor; and select the temp tower entry that will handle that overhang.

Or support it. Looks like 15 degrees to me, and I support most things under 25. Defaults are assigned at 30, and would create them for that overhang

I took your suggestion and added a support. Looks just as bad when the support is removed. Ugh.

It is never going to be completely flat because of your layer lines. They look exaggerated on low angles. For optimal supports in this type of situation use an interface layer of dedicated support filament.

Thanks @Paul_B can you clarify how I would do that? Can I just select a different material in for supports like Rapid PLA in Bambu Lab? I know it increases print time greatly, but this is a small part.

to be honest I would look at printing it on a bit of an angle such that the overhang is no where near as extreme. You might be surprised how little of the part needs to be on the bed with a suitable brim.

If you want to go for a support layer you can use PLA for PET-G or PET-G for PLA or else get a special support filament. In the support section of Bambu Studio enable the advanced options and scroll dow and you will see support interface material. by default it is the same as your main material.

Good call @Paul_B I can cut a little tip off the back corner off the back bottom edge and cant it so it looks more like a V than an L when in position. Plate you would use for something like this with this material?

A PEI, texture or smooth, plate should be fine with PETG.

Well, I cut ..2 off the bottom and changed the print angle, and even with supports it absolutely will not stick to the bed. I’ve tried 3 different kinds of plates.

I found this cool negative support generator which would probably work great except my part (like most of my parts) throws non-manifold edge warnings. But it looks like a great resource for those of you who actually know how to create proper parts with CAD software instead of cutting and sticking them together with Creality Print like us total amateurs:
