Well I can’t add of the above, So in the last 2 weeks, I have lost 4 Memory Cards to the Bambu Corruption issue. Everything I read online says get high end Class 10 etc. I have done, The Bambu stock one went first, however I was able to see that files in the Cache Section was corrupted, Chinese writing and others just random characters. So I got a Sandisk, 32gb. It lasted 3 prints, 2 days. Unrecoverable, Windows just kept saying needs formatting. Yet it works fine in my Camera. I got a 16gb Samsung, 2 prints and its gone, same as before. So I got another 16gb Sandisk. KLasted 6 prints. This all started with the Last Bambu Software update. Does anyone know why or have a fix.
PS reformatting and using again gives 2 prints. and its files from Makerworld and thingiverse.
Time lapse is off, so its not that. I am thinking software bug
I’m thinking either defective card slot or a dirty card slot. I’ve been on these forums for 3 years and of all the shortcomings of the P1, there are no recent reports of firmware issue with the SD card. Each report ends up being hardware related.
other sites say otherwise, sadly no one has an answer, apart from the generic, getting class 10, constant remove etc. But im not here to argue, I am here for answers. I don’t need telling something isn’t happening when it is. Thanks
Found 1 person with a work around but raises more questions. They have taken to transfering the files to the Card on the PC and then Printing directly off the SD Card. Will be giving it a try.
As has already been mentioned, I would first carefully clean the card slot using pure alcohol and cotton swabs. It’s important to use pure alcohol so that it evaporates. You can also use contact spray in a can; that works too. Whatever you use to clean it, it must evaporate; under no circumstances should you use soap or water.
Now, regarding the SD cards themselves: Unfortunately, Windows is extremely poor at formatting them. Generally speaking, I would first use this program to check the cards’ functionality and format them: SD Card Formatter
Important: The format must be FAT32; please check.
If you think it’s a software or firmware issue, you can also install an older version, but I’d really only do that as a last resort. For example, you can do this using the Bambu mobile app.
Overall, this sounds more like a contact issue. It seems like the power drops out when the printer tries to print something. It could be something else, but that’s just my experience.
Pop the SD card out and reinsert it between every print. Does it still fail after a few prints or does it continue to work? If it still fails, I would conclude there is something defective in the SD card hardware on the printer. If it doesn’t fail, it’s probably a oxidized/dirty contact problem.
IPA won’t do anything to get at contact oxidation. It’s not that strong a solvent. You really want to use a “contact cleaner”, which is specifically designed to attack oxidation.
But simply ejecting and reinserting the card a dozen times might be enough to scrape things “clean”.
And that being said, I doubt this is a dirty contact issue. The contact springs and pads on a SD card and reader are designed to be very tolerant of contamination. They’re removable storage, after all. Contacts should not degrade even after many insert/removals since they’re expected to be subjected to that kind of operating stress.
I’ve got devices that take SD cards (like Raspberry ■■■) that are more than 10 years old and have never had one stop working or work incorrectly in spite of never having been cleaned. I have had plenty of bad SD cards over the years, though. Unlike a HDD or SSD, SD cards are designed to be inexpensive first, and reliable second.
And there are a lot of counterfeit SD cards of questionable quality on the market. They come in very convincing packaging. So it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the cards being bought are bad. Avoid lower-capacity cards. Current generation Flash chips have a minimum capacity of 32GB, so if you’re buying a card that’s less than that, it’s older generation Flash. But also the risk is higher that it’s counterfeit. A new 32GB Flash chip that doesn’t have the full capacity due to defects would be thrown away by Samsung, but could be used by a less-reputable company to make a 16GB card. So the higher the capacity of the card the less likely it is to have been made from lower-quality parts.
I can now confirm, after 4 very small prints, copying the file to the SD card and printing from SD direct instead of sending from Bambu PC Software works. When it sends from the PC, obviously it goes to Bambu’s Cloud and comes back, the return file is corrupt and the print fails to print as the file is just a mess. Then the Print gives the generic Memory card is faulty, which has been confirmed as NOT. I changed to a different network and the issue persisted. So the printer is reading the card fine, as direct from card works ok, but via cloud where it writen to the card is not. I will report it to bambu. But going be honest there is so many issues now with the P1P and they have discontinued it, I think new Printer. new Manufacturer is my best option. Its been fun not.
As for the Memory Cards being counterfeit. I am sure Samsung and Scandisk would have something to say, as they not cheap, they from Argos, Amazon and ASDA>
Samsung has a significant problem with counterfeits. Not just SD cards, also SSDs. I see stories about this in my feeds all the time.
Especially now. The AI boom is consuming all the available supply of Flash. Cost/GB has doubled in the last 6 months. There’s a lot of money to be made in both legitimate and fake flash memory products…
I’m brand new to Bambu - Have PS1 (But now wish I didnt) . Got one small test print off. Now when i came to a real (but still small) print - it got stuck and then froze. EVerythjng in loop. Ghosted out controls. I’m now on my 3rd factory resete . Even recalbration doesnt work after full reset or gets stuck . Trying to download latets firmware - but that always hangs at 48% and then fails.
AI assist is suggesting my sd micro maybe corrupted and bambu notorioulsy crappy for sd micro they ship and for failing (so I find out NOW!). Its now suggesting - after day spent on this - may have somehow corrupted firmware (but I do not see how). Was going to get higher spec sd micro - but seeing your post this seems like lots of good money after bad. Im thinking of returning this and buying Prusa. Looks sleek but if if software/firmware is as flaky as now I’m finding not worth hassle. Any advice?
