I already read through most similar topics, but all those are already pretty old.
So my question is, is there now a way to start the concentric finish at the diagonals? I’m printing my own chess board and the extra “seam” lines could in my opinion be removed and solved at the diagonals, however I don’t know how to do that.
You’ll have to play around with it because the seam painter is not exact. The slicer will override the placement if the nozzle movement is out of bounds. To correct for that, you could try rotating the object on the build plate if it allows so that the nozzle movement starts in a different location.
Let me know if this needs clarification but refer to the wiki before you go too deep to understand the nature of how the seam painter works.
I still have to print it, but as you can see on the 90 degrees square, the horizontal starting line is still in the middle, even though the seam is in the corner.
I’ll print it first now and let you know if it worked.

I didn’t see it at first, but the starting point of the top layer is still in the same place. So rotating doen’t work either.
Let me let you in on a little secret - don’t trust the preview screen. The real-world print can be very different. For example, in your screenshot, do you see the same seam you saw in your print? This is why it’s smart to print a small test first and compare. In your case, I’d use the cut tool or movement tool to print only the top 10 layers or 3 mm (whichever is larger) to save filament while still seeing what the final result will look like before committing to the full print.
That’s what I did in the first place, however the print is (in this case) exactly as shown in the preview. Also with the seam in the same place as in the screenshot. However I will try to print the rotated version too.
