Firstly, hello everyone, this is my first post. I will try not to make it a negative one, however I am having a very serious issue.
The P2S is my first Bambu Lab product I have purchased. Its a fantastic machine - however I find myself running out of fillament very frequently I mean sure I am printing alot more than ever because it’s just too easy to do on the mobile handy app.
So what I need an answer to is:
How is everyone else finding the self control to not just hit that print button? I mean, one cute plant pot here, a tea light lamp there and next thing you know the house is full of awesome 3D printed knick knacks!!!
Kudos to all the great creators that have made makers world a great tool. Just wait till I learn CAD and can start contributing myself. Till then, happy 3D printing everyone!!!
Funny you should say thay, I have been looking at the new X2D - lands here mid to late May and trying to come up with reasons not to add it to the, so far small family that wants to be extended badly ‘) I sold my previous 4 printers to buy the P2S and now want more to keep the current one from being lonely.
Honestly I thought 2 AMS 2 Pro units and an extractor kit would be enough, but I was oh so wrong!!!
The issue I have is storing all the filament I keep buying. I will probably slow down a bit soon, and only buy colours I will need for a certain print. But I only have so much room for so many cereal boxes with filament in my house.
On the question of filament, I know TEMU (there are other websites you can use), they seem to offer deals on batches of filament of different colours, for cheap prices. But is it any good, as I have heard the filament itself can vary quite a bit in diameter rendering it useless.
When it comes to fillament I have had the best results - bed adhesion and print quality - using Bambu Lab filaments. Temu and other cheap alternatives tend to be inconsistent with the quality, dampness and colour from roll to roll.
As for storage I purchased a Creality storage unit that also is damp and dust resistant. I wish @system BambuLab offered something simillar. With having that holding 10 rolls, 2 AMS 2 Pro units holding 8 rolls and a Creality Space+ Pi heater holding 2 rolls I still need more storage myself.
I’m in the same situation regarding filament storage. I’ve set up an area in my dining room for all of my 3D printing stuff. I have two tall IKEA bookcases to hold the filament (cereal) boxes, with 6 boxes on each shelf. All but 2 of those boxes have filament in them, so that’s going to have to be my limit until I use up some older stuff.
Thanks for that, I am buying Sunlu at the moment, after one of the reels I got from Bambu labs had twisted filament on that jammed up my AMS, so am a bit wary now. Have been told it can happen in about one in twenty rolls, so I guess I was just unfortunate.
Quick tip, don’t leave the cereal box type storage things on the window sill. I did, and mine that all had a tight fitting printed Hydrometer and silica gel holder in the lid, now has the silica gel holder in the box, as it shrank in the sun, while the cereal box “seal” got bigger!
I print my own filament. That way I never have to reorder and I never run out! I just keep going in a loop with the printer happily running 24 hours a day!
Have just discovered this on Amazon, easy to put together, sturdy, holds 5 cereal type boxes per shelf. has a genius way of supporting shelves and adjusting them. Also not a bad price
What software or web site are you using to manage your filament? I really like what I’m seeing there. I use an app called Spoolstock and it’s pretty good, but one thing it doesn’t handle well is multicolor filaments like the red/blue/green one you have.
I mean sure I am printing alot more than ever because it’s just too easy to do on the mobile handy app.
