I have a probe for the CNC if I need something to be as close to zero as possible, but I don’t think I’ve ever printed anything that needed that level of precision (I’ve machined stuff that did, though metal, not plastic). Typically I just fixture the print in a clamp or with some hold downs. I’ll define one corner of the print as “zero” and align that spot with the homed location of the milling head and go from there. Mostly, I’m surfacing a flat surface so it fits correctly with something else. I make those surfaces a little oversized in the model specifically so I can remove material to bring them down to where I need the surfaces to be. High wall counts required, of course.
