Service life of extruder gears

What service life are people seeing on their extruder wheels?

I have 556 hours on my A1 but regularly see under-extrusion appearing on well-established prints and profiles using PLA.

Support suggested that I check the extruder wheels and, whilst they look clean, there is evidence of some wear.

I print mostly PLA and, occasionally, PETG.

Of course, I understand that they are consumable parts, so don’t mind paying for new ones, but I’m curious to know what life others are getting from theirs.

I’m also curious about this because I got a few “extruder malfunction” errors and I found the wheel gunked up each time. I have just 350 hours and only printed PLA and PETG. One of the PLA I use (BASF Ultrafuse) is extremely ridgid, though…

I’m curious what others say. I replaced mine when I bought it with the hardned extruder. I’ve got about 1000 hours and haven’t had any issues. Print mostly regular materials but also a decent amount of abrasives.

If I’m mistaken my apologies, do you mean you replaced your [Nozzle] to a hardened steel one when you bought it?

The A1 Series both come and as far as I’m aware only contain a hardened steel extruder gear set unlike the P1 Series and X1 non -C model.

I was referring to my P1.
