Setting the Record Straight on Cloud Access and Community

I think i am ready to say that i have the assessment from the company lawyer. The whole 7 pages of it (in German).

To be really honest i thought that Bambu Lab would have more leverage than what i was hoping for but reading through it all made me rethink everything that has been going on on this topic. And boy oh boy, there will be much to discuss.

Unfortunately i can’t disclose it all due to the laws of the country i live in (GPDR is taken serious in Germany). Other reasons for not being able to disclose it all is also due to the client-lawyer agreement and because of certain ruling decisions already made in the past, behind curtains. I can’t and i won’t disclose any past ruling and i am not saying there is or were any “behind the curtain” agreement out of court in regards to Bambu. So that it is clear in the eyes of Bambu Lab. That is something that only they, and their clients, can disclose.

What i can do, and i will, is offer to disclose a quick assessment (1 page), with the authorization from the company lawyer, about what he assessed if the case would go to court. Will need some time since it’s all written in German and i don’t want to sent it to any online platform for translation due to the data being collected. I will post it in a few hours, after checking for the right translation and checking that everything is ok.

As a reminder, the developer in question lives in the EU and as such, this assessment is regarding EU laws and directives, being the US law cited by Bambu Lab (punished with federal prison in the US) not even possible to be used in EU court of law. For those of you in the US i am sorry but i will not pay for a US lawyer just to make you happy.

I will also state that this topic is being heavily monitored by certain parts. This does not apply to Bambu only, but to every other company and manufacturer.

What i don’t get is that people are making confusion about the Bambu love and hate and, as said before, and derailing the topic completely. Many refer to the brand as if they are the reborn of Jesus Christ. Others see the Devil in every comment. While that is a harsh statement, it’s the truth.

I can speak for myself only, but i will say it as i said before. I love Bambu machines but i hate what they have become after having grown from the community. I am not an “open source” advocate but i can see the right where the right is due.

I keep reading the same half a dozen people that always try and defend the brand they love, almost constantly, without even thinking ahead or how it looks when others read it.
I also keep reading that these machines are/want to be, the Apple of 3D and not for tinkerers and yet, when Bambu asks you (no, they demand you to…) to do self repairs, what do you do? You tinker with it because tinkering is repairing, perfecting, analyzing and make it better. So what’s your status after all? Are you a tinkerer or not? Ah, the duality of Man…

Then i see the same thing over and over again, topics being closed sooner than they should and always because some user (and almost always the same ones) goes in, says nothing useful, leave the bait and leaves the topic for a while. Only coming back when called to reason or confronted and when that happens, everyone that disagrees with him is wrong. Then starts rage baiting everyone until there is nothing more to discuss except for rage. Then the topic gets closed. For what?!

Then there are those who were born long before the internet had been created that also can’t understand that they could be wrong and that their beliefs are not what they seem. Writing “You have no legal standing” does not make you right but it makes you arrogant. My way or no way. This is not how it works nor should it be.

There are disabled people, there are people with one hand only, blind people, deaf people and much more. It does not make them right just by having that disability. In my eyes if a person uses their disability as a strong point in such actual discussions, that point is not valid anymore.

And then there are those who got to the point they are today, well known in Makerworld, making a buck every month, only seeing what they get from the platform. I get it that having thousands of downloads, a few thousand Dollars/Euros every month tastes good and that it was that brand that made it possible. But just because you got it right and others didn’t, it does not mean that only your effort and opinion should be recognized.

This is a forum, created not for support but for discussing themes related to 3D printing and mostly Bambu stuff. There will be times where people will agree and times where people will disagree. But that is the point.

It’s not only about Bambu. It’s about Creality, it’s about Flashforge, it’s about Qidi and every other manufacturer you can think of. It’s not letting any company create a precedent. It’s about letting your kids be bullied one time, then two and then try and stop it when it’s already too late because you let it happen and now it’s your kid that pays for it.
I would not like to wake up tomorrow with my hole burning, knowing that i was the cause for it to burn (i think you can get the analogy). I want to wake up knowing that i will be able to seat without pain. I want to wake up knowing that my rights, as a consumer, are being respected. It’s not about “i want”, it’s about “it should be that way” and, like it or not, there are people that still care about consumer rights.

So no, i won’t self repair any machine, be it from Bambu or not, if a warranty exist for 2 years. I will accept any TOS with a click of a button because companies want me to do it but their TOS has no value in Europe since the law comes first.
This is about tomorrow. This is about Apple having USB C as a standard for a reason. About having alternative stores for the same reason. Because the consumer has the right to choose what to do with that they have paid and not the other way around.

I am truly sorry for the long text but this gets tiring and seeing the actual armchair lawyers in this topic being completely wrong has made me smile after reading the assessment. At least there’s that.

As said before, i will try and translate the best i can and will follow up later. As always, have a great weekend and…

”Be civil”

Why would my post be flagged as offensive or abusive? It’s a simple question

Pretty sure you insinuating anyone that disagrees with you is getting paid by Bambu Labs is what is offensive.

At the very least, when considering the bigger picture, we must take into account that some people earn a living through MakerWorld, while others receive hardware in exchange for points. The second applies to me as well.

Of course, it’s not free: you’re making your 3D models available, which ultimately takes up valuable working time. You work, you earn points, and you can redeem them for hardware or cash. So far, that’s perfectly fine, just like with any other job.

That said, it naturally influences personal opinions. It’s possible that people are less critical when they make a living from it. However, the opposite can also be true: even though I receive hardware from Bambu, I’ve always been critical.

In other words: People are too different to be classified by one specific thing. Some people identify with a brand, while others don’t. Nevertheless, if you receive hardware from Bambu, you tend to be more forgiving and overlook mistakes more easily.

Applying that anyone that disagrees is astroturfing or is a shill for Bambu is dismissive and rude.

Borderline rage baiting.

Derailing the conversation.

It’s a valid question.

Regardless of whether someone feels offended by it or not.

And it is directly related to the topic.

I would like to know who is paid for lobbying for bambu and who is genuinely expressing their opinion.

But that is not what you asked is it?

Be at peace; you’re not the only one that had posts reported as… “offensive” (or whatever), though nothing in those posts was actually offensive. My last post, above, which was an image with an invented word, was reported and removed as “offensive “ and “against "community rules “… though nothing in that image was offensive in any way, shape or form…

No need to get disturbed by this. It’s a common and recurring method of some heavily frustrated individuals who, because they lack their arguments, simply report posts as “against community rules” to remove them so that others cannot view them. $h1t happens, move on.

That is still a logical fallacy. I don’t need to control or own the license to correctly interpret it. So please try to prove me wrong next time you reply. I gave you enough information and pointers.

It had the F word in the image. It was removed just like any other post would be with that word in it.

My honest opinion is that my post got removed because it highlighted inconvenient truth that was probably valid in most cases…

What I’m realising (and it’s foolish on my side to think differently before) is that „everyone is entitled to their opinion” as long as it is aligned with painted narrative. If you opinion differs you are swarmed by people bending backwards to justify injustice and defend indefensible becasue …. Reasons

You dont want the answer to that question  “who is paid by bambu” can be factually answered by if you have a makerworld account that posts anything to participate in their attention economy. thats a lot of people. That vector of compensation would probably be enough to invalidate your jury service, if it were a trial.

not I  but I dont matter

I think you hit the nail on the head. Those who rely heavily on bambu for their survival won’t be critical. They won’t be biting the hand that feeds them.

that is why I completely disregard their point of view on anything relating to bambu and customers. most are put on „ignored” so I don’t waste time on reading the essays they write to flood the topic with irrelevant content and completely missed analogies.

Just to put things in perspective, the top earners on MakerWorld don’t post in this forum. If anything, they might mirror a blog post to promote their projects.

I understand your point, but… shouldn’t you focus more on facts - or lack thereof. The content of a post?

Almost everyone who has a MakerWorld account and uploads a few things has received at least some filament or a gift card. Like I said, I get the point, I really do, but trying to back that up? You’re not going to succeed.

When I look at your profile, I’m sure you’ve received gift cards too, right? Aren’t you contradicting yourself? With that kind of reasoning, you can only lose - which is why it’s best not to even start down that path. You’ve stayed critical too, haven’t you?

Interestingly enough, at a simple forum search I’vefound 6 posts using the incriminating yet very common word you refer to (though, when using a simple variation of the word, I’ve found several more posts) still visible. Should I wonder why is that, or should I not bother pointing out the obvious discrepancy?

You can flag them for review…

Just save this symbol, it’s your friend: ■

Then you don’t even have to post the word in the forum and risk it getting flagged… or as an image… you can write whatever you want:

Like, everyone ■■■■■ ■■■■■ potato! Such ■■■■ ■■■■, ■■■■? Like I mean, ■■■■■ tomatoes in ■■■■■■■■! And this ■■■■■■ is how you make soup…

Im critical and never defended shady things that bambu does. I’m not relying on the maker world for survival. I stopped caring how my models do long ago.

I’m in some might say a privileged position that I do not need to rely on downloads and likes for survival.

I post what I want and when I want. I don’t see need to promote or make my models artificially good looking in the cover or rely on bambu to promote me. I don’t have social media and don’t shill bambu anywhere.

And this is the difference. I don’t care what bambu or others think of me and I would never bend over backwards to defend anyone who limits the consumer choices and leeches on open source projects.

You need to be, in the context that you replied to. The following is the context to which you replied.

I said that companies aren’t run by forum opinions and you specifically quoted and replied to that. In that context, unless you reply is a ruling from a judge, BL doen’t have to be run by it. There are millions of armchair legal “expertise” being dished out daily on the internet. No one needs to take them seriously.

In the context, asking if your post is a ruling from a judge (which would have had the power to compel BL to act) is not a personal attack.

The plaintiff’s case alleging “ad hominem” is hereby dismised with prejudice

And now the big question: How are you going to find out if someone’s survival depends on it? That’s the problem - you can’t visit any of the users at home. Most people don’t even use their real identities - neither do I; almost no one does.

This applies to everyone, by the way - whether someone is critical of Bambu, loves Bambu, or falls somewhere in between.
