To some of us, we bought a machine that does X, it did do X, and then bambu changed it to not do X after the sale and push users to Y. Still salty about that. Not unreasonably so, but its important to remember the history! Bambu did not buyback those machines.

It is rather common for cultists to deny being in a cult. It is not like they knowingly sign up for it. It happens step by step until one is wallowing in the mire and spitting out false narratives, claiming things that don’t square with reality. Kind of like insisting that the free software crowd created g-code when it was in fact created by industry decades earlier.
I bought three machines from them that did what I wanted them to do. And then one day, they no longer did that. So, no.
It’s the second time i read in this topic that everyone that does not want to comply, or accept, with the answer that someone wants to force, belongs to a cult. Yeah I think that sucks too, but Im not sure its that clear cut, I thought there was only Bambu Studio, and then some one created the Orca fork, so it seems this has always been the path they were trying for.

Recent market reports indicate that the P1/P2 line is the best selling with the A1 line being the best selling among first time 3D printer buyers. Anycubic and Creality, the 2nd and 3rd best selling printer manufactures have revised their line-up in the direction of Bambu.
I actually thought the reference to Blade Runner was fitting. 
For those who aren’t familiar with the story, here’s the basic premise without any spoilers: Blade Runners believe they’re working for the greater good as police officers. It’s their purpose in life. But then one of them starts to have doubts. He starts to question the corrupt police and the corrupt corporations.
I think this is very fitting, since some users also defend companies as if their lives depended on it. The only difference is that in Blade Runner, the main character eventually begins to doubt his own actions. That probably won’t happen here, though.
I get that people defend their families - their wives or kids - but companies? I mean, most people aren’t married to a company. An emotional bond with a company? Yeah…
*Of course, the same goes for people who hate a company - it’s the same level of behavior.
Today, in a more “private” discussion forum, someone came up with a thing that left me thinking and, to be honest, i think it has some credibility and usability to it.
All this reverse engineering will end up in someone creating a local “cloud” and using their bambu printers everywhere as they are used today, but without needing the Bambu cloud itself.
To be honest, that would be great and i am all for it to host my own cloud (that i already have for other services). Let’s see where this takes us, but i think that someone opened Pandora’s box and there’s no going back.

Literally everywhere, constantly under my comments - no sane person would do that. It’s become your whole life’s purpose to spam my comments.
Even now, you won’t accept that I’ve been ignoring you. You keep writing that over and over again in response to my comments; I actually think that’s mentally unhealthy.
You didn’t even notice that I agreed with you on the g-code part. So I’m wondering, who’s the cultist here? Right now, you’re definitely not making a good impression.
And in case any admins are reading this: No, this isn’t meant as an insult, but just look at how this guy is stalking me - on various topics, just to post that one thing about the G-code - it really is mentally unhealthy. I just checked the store - the circuit board is still not available as a replacement part from Bambu directly from the shop. Customers still have to contact support. The problem still doesn’t seem to be resolved, but that’s a topic for the other thread.

A “compatible client” and an “official-looking client” are technically the same class of thing if both behave identically at the protocol level.
The appeal to “ethical judgment, not technical claim” doesn’t resolve the issue. It actually weakens the argument, because ethics still depends on a defined harm or principle. If the underlying behavior is just protocol-compatible operation with different local features, then the ethical claim needs something more than “it feels inappropriate,” otherwise it reduces to asserting a preference as a moral rule.
The ethical point was not about local slicer features and turning it into that does not answer what I actually objected to.
You keep stretching this into things I did not say, and the added edit after the LLM comment earlier is an interesting choice. This is exactly why this has stopped being a useful exchange.
The only one making this a non-useful exchange is you by
