"Share" upload of models from other creators disabled?

Uploading models from other creators used to be possible via “share” (in contrast to remix or own creation). This linked to the original creators model on e.g. Thingiverse or Printables.
See e.g. the community guidelines:

Please select the correct upload type for your models

  • Models that only have slight variations but are uploaded as “Remix” will be taken down. Such models should be uploaded as “Share”.

I just tried it and could not select “share” as model type.
Has the “share” upload been disabled?

That would be very sad, since it allowed recognizing original contributions without creating additional work for the creator.
(And yes, as a fix to the situation I have contacted the creator of the model and asked him to share it on makerworld.)

Any fix or work around for this issue? I have spent time making functional enhancements and creating work arounds for print issues with models that I downloaded.
It would be beneficial to the community to upload improvements & fixes to projects. “Original” is not appropriate, and remix is often not allowed.

If remix is not allowed, you simply cannot do and should not do what you described.

Meh, just don’t. Seems like a cheap way to make points and MakerWorld probably woke up and thought the same way.

It kind of worked when makerworld was brand new and needed models, but right now most of the shared models have been copied hundreds of times over.

This is good that it is not a option.
