Hi folks!
I am designing an alien abduction game that uses pucks with magnets inside them. I’ve been printing these pucks in PLA/Silk PLA for a month on my P1S, and the bridging across the alien’s left eye (right side when facing down on the print plate) always has this artifact in the upper corner. I am unsure why this is happening because the other eye has no major problems. I have changed the bridge direction to 180 degrees, and it looks worse. Any advice on how to tackle this would be greatly appreciated.

Just a suggestion, you can change the height of those cutouts so that it prints as one smooth surface and doesn’t really bridge at all. The eyes will just be a different color. Did you need there to be a height difference?
I have considered this; however, having a small air gap between the face of the puck and the table helps reduce friction, leading to a smoother slide. I may end up choosing this solution if the bridging problem cannot be improved.

One more suggestion, what if you printed the inside of the puck as a separate piece? You could print both of them face down and in different colors. You would keep the air gap for a smoother slide but both surfaces would be flawless.
I know neither suggestion really addresses the problem. Would “Top Z Distance” improve it?

Another good idea. My goal is to sell this game, and I’d like to have as few steps as possible in the assembly process. However, quality may take precedence over quantity in this case.
Can you elaborate on “Top Z Distance”? Are you suggesting adding supports in?

I was thinking it had supports but it probably wouldn’t generate them for a distance that small. I don’t know if manually painting them on would help or hurt the way the surface looks.

Yeah, my goal is to avoid supports because it will add another step, and as you said, may not improve the current look/finish.
I may try playing around with bridge flow and speed in the meantime.
