I’m currently debating whether to buy the H2D or wait for a while. I’m not sure if my view is biased because I read the forums regularly and see all the issues people are having with the H2D, or if there really are just that many problems. It feels like there are a lot of concerns, and what worries me the most is the thread titled Z-Bandick, which has really made me hesitant about purchasing.
I’d really like to hear your thoughts — would you go ahead and buy the H2D now, or would you recommend waiting to see how things develop?
As a rule, I would say that on the Internet (and by that I mean forums like this one) you mainly read about people with problems. Unless it’s an absolute fanboy or a regular visitor here, people will rarely tell you if everything works for them.
But: Considering that it is a new device with a lot of new technology and that a relatively ‘small batch’ has now been sold, I think the problems that have occurred are considerable. If you also look at the problems with the AMS2, the firmware of the X1C etc. pp. …
Personally, I would wait. In my humble opinion, the device simply seems to have been released too early. Early adopters do help, but this product really only seems to reach maturity with the customer.
The whole situation with the support and the fact that they need 3-7 days for every generic 1st level support answer really doesn’t make it any better. So you can see a lot of shady things happening here at the moment.
So if you don’t have an absolute need to buy something now … I would personally wait.
If you are debating whether you want it now or wait, it doesn’t sound like you need one right now or at all?
So my question would be, what do you have now and why do you want/need an H2D? Mine works just fine but it takes up a lot of space and apart from the (laser)cutting I haven’t made much that I couldn’t have made with my A1 or even my 7 year old Dutchy
Like Dextera said, you’re mainly going to find complaints on forums and YouTube is (mostly) extremely bias toward whichever creator is getting paid by which company.
I’m not a “fanboy” but I love my machine and have had zero problems with it other than some initial feeding issues with the AMS HT, and that resolved fairly quickly.
I’m not saying others don’t have issues or valid complaints but I wouldn’t base my own purchase decision off of it. I see much more praise from the machine than I do complaints.
If you have any decent 3d printer already and you don’t need specific features of H2D NOW, but are looking forward to them, I’d advise waiting no less than 6 months from release date before buying.
Right now I have a MK3S+, and I probably don’t need to explain why I’m looking for something new. The Prusa Core arrived too late for me, and honestly, it already feels outdated.
I’ve been holding off for a few months — at first I wanted to get the X1 Carbon or P1S, but then the H2D was announced. What matters most to me is the larger build volume, because with the MK3S+ I often have to split bigger models and glue them together, which isn’t ideal. Becos i dont have problem give more money becos price difrends is huge P1S vs H2D
I also print a lot of ASA, and I really need a heated chamber. My MK3S+ is in an enclosure, but for larger prints, even that’s sometimes not enough to prevent warping or corner lift.
So I can wait another month or two — I’m not in a rush — but I’d really like a printer that can finish a model in half the time (compared to 10+ hours now) without me having to worry about warping or adhesion issues.
