I deal with Microsoft and Apple a lot so I know how their updates sometimes don’t have the intended effect.
When I’ve opened Bambu Studio–for about a week now–I get the popup to upgrade “Bambu Studio V2.5.0.66 Hotfix”.
Have you guys installed it? Is everything working? Should I go for it? I asked Ai and it said yes, but I kind of prefer a human response. I see it’s mostly for the H2 printer, but likely there’s some stuff in there for the P2S as well.
Should install it or wait for “Hotfix v2.5.0.67” hehe.
That’s how Microsoft and Apple do it. A hotfix to fix the hotfix.

I’ve installed it and haven’t seen any weird stuff between the A, P and H series. It still hangs a little when choosing Device so if that bugs you it’s there.
You can always download the portable and try it out if you don’t want to nuke your current install. On the github it shows in Assets, .zip file.
No! I can’t use my P1S and A1 mini since the update. I have many printers, but only two Bambu Lab machines, and every time I update one of them, there is always a problem. They have great products to start with, but without a doubt, this is the worst company when it comes to updates and actually improving things.
I’ve never had problems with my other printers. Since 2019, I had to do three factory resets on my Bambu before I finally gave up and stopped updating.
Own a P1S(P) another P1S, an A1 Mini as well. Not once have I had an issue with one of the updates. Well, wait. There was one, a bit ago. I fixed it though.
Not saying at all that updates don’t have the ability to cause issues. Not everytime.
BTW you know that if an update causes issues you can downgrade to previous versions.
Careful! “Portable” version still shares the same configuration directory as any “installed” version. Running it will overwrite/change “stuff” in there.
From my short test (v2.4 installed - > 2.5 portable) it was all the default profiles for printers and filaments. It didn’t overwrite anything custom of mine, but it would have been editing the same instances if I’d changed anything in them. Re-running the older version maybe would copy those defaults back…? But I didn’t try and just restored the backup I’d made just before trying the “portable” version…
[ From my investigation, apparently there used to be a --datadir command-line switch to set a custom config folder at runtime, but for some reason that got nuked at some point… Orca just recently added it back in “by poplular demand.” ]

PS. I don’t use any cloud sync or whatnot… all my datas are belong to me.
I went ahead and installed the update on the Bambu desktop software and then also the firmware on the printer. Did full calibration after the firmware to be sure. Looking good and printing well.
