I’m considering adding a permanent ventilation setup for my printers and I’m curious to see how you have ran it through the wall/ceiling/floor and have it venting outdoors.
So far I have a 4” AC infinity inline fan, some 4” ducting, and a 4” duct quick release. That pretty much takes care of my end inside the house. I just need to figure out how or where I’m going to vent it outside the house.
Install a normal dryer vent, a soffit vent, or a roof vent?
Do I put a blast gate on it to keep critters out when it’s not in use?
Is there such thing as an automatic blast gate that senses when it should be open?
Back draft shield?
how are you keeping the critters out? Wasps, mice, and other bugs.
A grow tent houses my p1s. At the top is an activated carbon filter attached to common dryer ducting. This ducting runs to an inline fan and then through a printed petg adapter which I attached to a thin wood plank using double-sided tape.
My H2D printer is too far from a window or door. So i filled the free space of the rear fan with a box of activated coal and put a Ikea Uppatvind air filter with an added layer of activated coal right at the outlet. So i have no problem with pollution or smell anymore. The original filter for HT materials is quite good on its own.
For normal 3D prints I just have the charcoal basket someone else posted that fits inside the printer.
I use the Smoke purifier for Laser and can’t smell anything. I do have a vent going outside if I need it from my other laser but its a pain as I have a piece of 1/2" plywood that fits into the window and you close the window on it. Not hard to put in but the window is behind my work bench above my C02 engraver. So its hard to get to and I’m lazy. So I just turn on the smoke purifier and connect with some quick disconnects.
Here’s a flange and quick connect fitting I made that uses the same quick disconnect tip/configuration as Clous42’s design. I made it so my smoke purifier would have the same quick disconnect fitting and the hose would be interchangeable. The fitting has threads so it doesn’t need a hose clamp and a shoulder to hide the cut end of the dust hose that usually has the sharp end of the cut wire.
I really wish I had a normal window available near my printers. All I have are two 6’ tall by 14” wide windows that open sideways lol. Thank you for showing me your setup!
I do have an XTool safetypro sp2 on the way. It should be here in a few days. I don’t really plan to do any laser work, but will definitely have it hooked up for my normal printing. Until I figure out a good actual venting solution at least.
