Reviews have reported that the side panel of the X2D can soften and warp (not metal like X1C obvi) if you use the chamber heat. So my question is, has anyone had it apart enough to see if there is room to apply some self stick foam/foil insulation to the inside. How much disassembly does it take to reach the area where the heater might warp it? By the video I saw the warpage was pretty much dead center on the left side. It had a permanent bulge.
I wonder if this has something to do (somehow) with spools hanging off the external holder?
I’ve got one that has been printing for around 1.5 weeks, doing 30h prints at a time with 60 chamber / 100 bed, essentially running 24/7. I see no signs of any warpage etc at all.
The warp happens on the left. The holders are on the right. I saw an hour long YT review where she showed a giant bump on the left that mushed outward permanently. She said initially it would oil can out when hot, but eventually the bulge was permanent.
That’s wild! Do you have a link to the video? I’m wondering if this was happening at max temp or below?
I also watched this review (great in-depth review BTW), and for me it seems like recall/send many users new or metal side of the printer case for Bambu. But time will tell how many of the users will face this issue. In a month, I will check it on my machine.
I can confirm there is warpage on the left side panel. I only printed one test with ASA/heated chamber so far (3.5h~), the bulge is small, about 2-3mm compared to the top part of the panel.
Thats pretty lame to be honest, this is most definitely going to get worse with time. @Tool_Maker you should see it quite clearly since you run heated chambers all the time.
My original question was can a sheet of insulation prevent the warping. Has anyone seen a teardown video that might show the available space behind the heater?

Haven’t noticed any other forum post about it yet.. but it definitely is not just an X2D issue.
So what types of issues will this “warpage” cause to actual prints?
None, it’s just cosmetics, the side panel has no part in chassis structural integrity
I can live with a slight bend in the panels then. This is a nothing burger for me.
I’m more interested in the filament feed issues people are having, which actually does affect the prints.
Can you show me a picture of this? Maybe I’m blind but I just don’t see it. I have quite a few H2C’s and H2D’s. They spend their lives running 24/7 in 60+ chamber / 100+bed temps (several over 2000 hours) and don’t see it.
Are you guys using a straight edge to notice this or is this some serious whitish looking bulge that appears?
I’ll try to remember, next time I print prolonged with ASA. But currently no print jobs planned for that.
No need to use a straight edge, it’s pretty obvious with the naked eye. And you can press against the bulge to push it somewhat back in place whilst it is warm (it bulges again when you let go of course).
Whilst at room temperature there is still some play on the left side panel, whilst there is virtually none on the right panel..
So not sure if it was always like that or this is the result of printing (a few times) with a heated chamber.
I have a production job possibly starting soon where I’ll be printing PA6 for 14 days straight. If this is going to be a problem, I’ll know about it.
So it bulges out while printing and then goes back to normal afterwards? TBH.., that doesn’t sound like too much of a concern.
I took it as what you guys were saying is the entire panel is warped from a few heated prints. But to have some sort of plastic panel movement during extreme heat isn’t really unexpected IMO.
I agree with you, it is not really unexpected. Although one could argue if such an expensive machine should not have more rigidity to the panels (I wouldn’t call 60°C/140°F extreme heat to be honest).
The concern is more, what will this do overtime, and will the bulging become permanent or not.

I am just here to let the topic starter know it is more wide spread than just the X2D, since I have had it happen to me on the H2D. However given how extensively you have printed/heated the chamber without any issues, one can wonder if this “problem” is only occurring on some and not all printers. If so it could be a production quality issue.
That could be. I’ve got them so close together, and they are always dancing.., I just probably have never really focused enough to pay attention. I can say print quality has not changed. So knows?
To reiterate, my question wasn’t is there warpage going on. My question was has there been a teardown. How hard is the warping spot to reach. And is there room to stick on some foam/foil insulation to try and mitigate.
Hmm… my X2D left panel warped because of that.
